Unhappy indicators not working...

hi all - seems my colum switches (particuarly the indicators) are not working properly. at first the rate of 'blink' of the indicators started changing and now they sometimes dont work at all?! has anyone had this problem before? i dont have much experience with electrical stuff.... also (strangley) the angle of the steering wheel has some effect on whether they work intermitintly or not at all... bizare!

It may be that the multi-plug for the indicators has come loose and is moved when you alter the angle of the steering column.

Take off the instrument binacle (2 screws ) & disconnect the speedo cable & you will find that hidden somewhere in there there are two multi-plugs plugs connecting the indicators & wipers. If I remember rightly the plug on the left is the one you'll be looking for.

I can e-mail you the "how to" if you need.

It's not bizarre..it's Italian !!!

First I'd check the flasher unit, then move onto the switch. The actual indicator stalks are quite reliable, just everything else hooked up to them.....well :-/

thanks guys - in a further developments ihave now been (laughingly) informed that when i brake BOTH indicators are lighting up!
i was also suggested to me to first check the taillight earths - and considering it has only been happening since i put everything back on the car it seems a good first suspect...if no luck i will try all your suggestions thanks

Send a message via ICQ to evilgidget
give the tail light connectors a spray with contact cleaner. The indicator speed/brake light no go problem I was having was resolved this way.
