Ignition and air filter components misalignment.

Hi there.
My distributor's vacuum corrector unit was facing air filter (33 1.5 dual carbs) till yesterday I decided to place it correctly facing toward steering wheel - and there the problems began. Technically it was ok - I just unbolted bottom holder plate, took off the whole distributor and turned it 180 degrees.. But I was unable to set correct advance because of corrector body pushing against rear engine holder and the maximum advance was available is the first flywheel token (T) ! So I had to return all backward as it have been initially.

And second question arose when I tried to install air filter inlet element (with two round plastic 'hoses' and summer/winter switch) - it just doesn't fit between alternator and linkage body! So I just took some plastic tube and inserted it inside inlet port , while other tube side was pushed inside the rubber slang facing the empty space between radiator and left light ..

I just wonder why that's all possible with 'state' equipment?
