FS: Interior of series 1 GTV, Flying Butress
It’s time to sell the seats from my 1968 series 1 1750 GTV.
I’m going to be moving house and I need the space and I’ve come to the realisation that I will not take my car back to original so it’s better to let someone else use them for their restoration.
The fronts:
Flying buttress type but these are unique because they both have the wind-up headrest and both are the correct seats. I’m told they were sold as a factory fitted dealer option at Alec Mildren in Sydney.
Both in very good condition and could be fitted to your car tomorrow. They are not to show standard with some stitching missing from the driver’s seat (seen in the photo), but the vinyl is not torn (I don’t think). No runners. Otherwise everything works and there is some minor surface rust on the frame. The foam is getting old and maybe some time down the track might need replacing but they were comfortable when I used them.
The back:
Very good condition and I would say excellent except the very top on the driver’s side has been in the sun and become brittle with some cracks. I would want this bit repaired if going into my show car but it is only cosmetic.
Here are some photos of them in the car and if you are a serious buyer I can take them out from under the house and take more photos or you can come and have a look.
Too bulky for postage so pick up only from the Carlingford area in Sydney. I also have the matching side cards for the rear and front that can be thrown in. Door cards if you twist my arm severely. They are rare seats in very good condition so bargain hunters need not apply. I don’t want to separate the fronts from the back. If you need these for your restoration then PM me and we can talk price and details.

very nice!! Wish I was closer, as I would really like a second with a wind-up headrest! I'm sure someone down under will be very happy soon!

Hi all,
Thanks for the interest from the USA.
Just so you know, the postage for just the front seats will probably come to a little over $450, if I can pack them in a small enough box. I imagine Europe will be similar.
The whole lot is still for sale:
Front seats, back seats, side cards for front footwells, doors and rears. A one stop interior fit-out for your restoration.

Wow, kudos for the courage to get rid of these - I'm sure I'd keep them locked away somewhere just in case I needed them 'cause you're most unlikely to come across stuff in such good condition very often.

Hi Jason,
Thanks but there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. I'm not sure which I am.
I've got a house full of "It'll come in handy one day" stuff and its time to lose some weight. I'm not a nuts and bolts restorer so it'll be wasted on me anyway. I'd rather see it put to good use.

Andrew,
I cannot quite see if your rear side cards are black or grey. Which colour are they?
Alex.

Alex,
All of it is black, the rear cards still have the ash trays in them.
Send me a PM with your email if you are interested.

raff_gta,
Where are you? International delivery has proven to be way too expensive.
The seats have someone who is interested but can't make a final decision just yet (for good reasons). So are "kind of" available - I'll offer them first rights if it comes down to it.
PM your email and I can send some more detailed photos.

Hi Geeteevee,
I'm sorry to say they've been sold.
It took a long time to sell them but I think they've gone to a good home.

Hi,
I've got fixed back Velo race seats in mine. They're cheaper than a Sparco or others but seem to be good quality. They have the small wings at the shoulders and these do hit the door on the driver's side. Most 105's with these types of seats have the same problem. There is a vintage race seat that doesn't have the wings and looks more period correct. I think it is from Sparco.
Where in Australia are you?
I got mine from Peninsula Auto Sports in Brookvale. I sat in the seat (at the shop) before buying and got the one I wasn't going to buy because of comfort. They both looked the same but felt different.

P.S.
From memory it is the Sparco Sprint that is the period correct seat.
Also be careful with approvals.
It needs to be ADR approved if you want the car to be registered and it needs to be FIA approved if you want to take it on the race track. Lots of seats have one or the other but very few have both.
