If any members here are thinking of letting go of their 'less than perfect' GT/GTVs I'm in the market for one. Preference is for a stepnose, but will look at everything.
Based in Melbourne but willing to travel. Car will need to make the trip back.
Have $15-$20K to spend for the right one.
Please feel free to ping me here and on email if you're thinking of selling or may know someone who is.
Hi Sean,
i have a 1972 GTV 2 litr for sale. Pervinca metallic blue in good solid condition. Looking for a bit more than your budget but who knows ?
If you are interested give me a call to discuss. I'm in Devonport tasmania, home of the Spirit of Tasmania ferry.

Had a call with the seller today and seemed pretty above board. Apparently he's only the 2nd owner but its been in storage for a while. Says the original owner did club days in it.
He's cut in some new metal as we can see in the photos.
Tossing up if it's worth the drive up to Mildura for an inspection...
I think this value in the VIN "2/74 2206555" signifies Feb 74' (month/year) and I would think (though you would need to confirm it) the 2206555 is the VIN number.
If you do a seearch on this site for "Fusi vin numbers" you should see the listings altho the list ends at 1972.
GT Junior (GD - RHD) in 1972 has a range starting at 2205101 - 2205990.
You could summise that 2206555 is in the next year 73' or even 74'.
Remember Feb 74 in Australia would have been when the car was sold/complianced. So the car was almost certainly a 1973 build if those numbers hold true.
You would need to confirm those dates/numbers with the seller, and yes the VIN (stamped on the firewall) would start with 'AR'.
You need to check it out. I prefer the 2 litre any time (but then I am biased as I have one!)
Usual applies, mechanically pretty robust (sounds as like it's had some work done but it needs to be rechecked/redone by now)
But the big ticket item is how bad is the rust and of course as you can see the interior is shot.
Well that one went quickly. Was apparently sold yesterday. The owner didn't even respond to my request for an inspection, I msged only a few hours of the listing going up!
Back to the GT Jr I guess. I've asked the owner for more photos of the common problem areas of the body. If they come back decent I'll arrange a PPI.
It'd be good to see what other background information I could find on the car though. Perhaps another forum member might know something? I'll post another thread.
I have had a look at this car last Friday, day trip from Adelaide to Mildura and back.
The owners were more than happy to show the car to me.
After a few days I had come to realise some barn finds are better left in the state you found them and just get them road worthy. Like a time stamp in history that has a link back to the family history, the town, rather than to fully restore the car back to factory specifications and remove all evidence of it's adventure with each owner and their family over the years. Do we all really need another trophy for best restoration?
You will need to assemble the front suspension, as the front is sitting on a single trolley jack. You will need two front wheels, and don't forget some left hand thread wheel nuts just in case for the left hand front wheel !
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
