Received all the parts from Manning Motors

Roman Auto Prep received the steering column and rear view mirror bracket from Robert Panetta of Manning Motors in NSW. It is great to be able to tap into resources half way around the world via the AlfaBB and get those hard to find parts. Robert thanks again for prompt shipment and help in my restoration.

Hey Can Am Bob.

Thanks for the kind words.
Its always a pleasure to help people.
For those who dont know,Bob is restoring an original 105 GTA that was raced by an Aussie driver.
Maybe Bob can share more light on this subject, including the pics of the car with the drivers name and the kangaroo sticker on it.
I think it is written and pics somewhere else on the BB,but maybe Bob can post them here.
Thanks again Bob.
If I can help in any way ,give me a call.
Yes ,he phoned, which made it quicker and easier.

Robert the Autodelta GTA I am restoring is the Ex Horst Kwech 1966 Trans-Am and ARRC B-Sedan Champion. Horst Kwech was born in Austria and emigrated to Australia where he grew up. Horst raced in Australia but is best known for his American success. He won the following in America:

1965 SCCA Central division B-Sedan Championship Ti Super
1966 Trans-Am (Horst and Gaston Andrey had the most driver points)
1966 ARRC B-Sedan Championship
1966 SCCA Presidents Cup (for most outstanding ARRC race)
1970 U2L Trans-Am Champion
1971 U2L Trans-Am second in controversial finish (Alfistas believe him the Champion)

He raced in F5000 and the Center seat Can-Am era with some success.

Other accomplishments:
Founded Ausca a highly respect American Tuner of Alfas
Co-developer of the Dekon Monza with Lee Dystra
Awarded 12 or more patents.

In 1966 Horst Kwech race prepared the GTA I own for two different series, rebuilt the motor after each race, towed the car to the races, won races including two championships and worked in the Knauz Continental dealership in Lake Forest Ill.

Horst Kwech is a famous Australian at least to us Alfistas in America.

Here are a couple of photos of the Kwech GTA I am restoring as it was in 1966.

Hi Can Am Bob.
Its great you wrote a story + pics of hitory about a 105 GTA driven by an Australia .
Its also great to chat with you on the phone.love the accent.Yes,YOU have the accent.
As discussed, here is a pic of the steering shaft rubber and bracket.
It has 2 holes= 1 for the steering shaft + 1 for the accelerator linkage to pass through the firewall.
I verified it on 3 105 GSGT drop nose cars that I have here in the workshop.Im sure the GTA cars had the (RHD).
Have a look and tell me what you think.

Blimey I have an accent?? I thought us West Coast Americans didn't have an accent. I need to get someone from the deep South to call you.

Yes the part looks great. I want them. I am trying to find a reliable 2 day service in Sidney that will pick up. I rang the Sidney DHL office and they did not answer. I will try UPS on Monday. All the NSW shippers are located in Mascot. Will call you Monday with the shipping details.

Robert sorry about that, yes of course "Sydney". Deep South means states like Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, etc. The American deep South accents are different than the West or the East.

I believe I should have you ship the parts via the post but lets use the tracking feature this time and go with the express option.
If you can round up another set great send it along. Even a spare frame would be appreciated.
