Really? Why? I can just about understand the 75 TS (running carbs?) as a simple (I assume - not sure about how well it fits) and reasonably cheap transplant, but surely a 1.8 turbo is just asking for trouble? What do you want the end product to be?

Anyway, sorry, I don't have any leads - unless you want to investigate the existance or otherwise of the 75 TS in Toowomba with no pics and no reserve but wasn't going to sell for under $2K ebay item=230137998955

There is a phone # in the listing - good luck!

Bruce check the AROCA QLD website, there is a bloke with a 2000 GTv for sale and he has a spare engine to go with it, you might be able to buy the spare engine off him.

If you want to look further afield, try Manning Motors in Sydney (Brookvale) as I believe the proprietor has a couple he's trying to sell. There's also a whole car for sale in the AROC NSW classifieds at the moment.
Happy hunting and I hope the conversion doesn't cause you too much grief!

Yeah Bruce, give Rob at Manning motors a call, he's a great source of parts.

Hi,

There are two twin sparks available from Italy on eBay. Both pre-drilled to fit the 105. Both of them would be about $2,000 landed. Keep one sell the other.

Didn't mean to sound too negative before. I really am curious to know why you want to run the turbo especially. The TS is more understandable, but depending on what you can find and what the objective is why rule out a strong Nord - especially if the first thing you need to do with either motor is rebuild it?

Anyway, if in the quest for a TS you find yourself landed with the whole drivetrain/car, I can probably dispose of a transaxle for you

Hey darryl,

I am still very undecided on if I should go the TS route, although there are aguments for and against, many of which are here on the bb. Some people say that its a great smooth motor, other people say why bother.

I also have the question of cost involved. (however as most people with alfas know, they aint cheap)

I have a 1750 in pieces, so if i rebuild that then I can retain the value of the car. I can also go the 2ltr 105 route, but as far as I can see you will end up having to rebuild that anyway, although there is a power gain.

all very confusing.

I do love the look of the twinspark motor and as I have a huge project getting the body in one piece I figure that I may as well go the whole hog and do the TS conversion.

To answer your question about the turbo option, I think thats probably a no go at the mo.

I will carry on looking for a cheap running TS motor, and if I find a whole car, I'll keep you in mind.

Depending on what you do to the 1750 when you rebuild, replacing it with a stock 2L (not TS) could easily be a bad move. If you can find a decent motor with low kms you should go with it, but a rebuild is a good investment imho- not that I'm any sort of expert. Have you got a quote from a good builder for a warmed up build of the 1750?

The other part of my Q was a sanity test - if you really were insane and wanted a turbo motor you could try to find out what this guy wants to sell as parts - I know the motor but not what has been done to it in the past 13 years or so. It is definitely better than a 75 turbo motor. As the motor is out of a different chassis and the original 'delta bits are gone I can't see it being worth any more as a "package" than as a collection of parts - but eye of the beholder/vendor, ymmmv and all that...

Good luck with whatever you do/find!

Monza Motors in Melbourne usually have a few TS engines hanging around for sale. If you get desperate give them a call.

thanks for all the info guys, I have descided to the shelf the TS project, I am going to rebuild the 1750 engine. Even though the power will be heaps less, I think the car will be worth more. maybe the TS project will have to wait untill I have more cash to thow around.

thanks again.

Smart move, spend the money on having the 1750 engine ported and polished, and pehaps improved headers. get yourself that book on how to performance tune an ALFA engine, plenty you can do to a 1750 engine. Use the natural torque of the 1750 to your advantage.
