Casey Stoner did a great job and made no mistakes. Rossi gave him a run for his money, but the Ducati clearly had the horsepower advantage over the Yamaha. Rossi's team had better find more power or it will be a very long season for them! Cheers to Stoner, as he showed a lot of great racing this weekend.

MotoGP is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the horsepower difference on the main straight was incredible, as though Ducati is using last years big engines ! Rossi must have made a mighty effort to keep up with that

Kudos to Stoner and Ducati : young rider didn't crack under the pressure of 7 time champion Rossi, and Ducati spanked the big boys!

What's the deal with Fiat sponsoring Yamaha, and not the Ducks
must be that Rossi is Italian

looks like we have another world class rider from Australia ! Go Casey !
what is his history, from before MotoGP ?

I saw as much interesting stuff in that, as the entire hour shown on Speed Channel here in USA.
plus, there was no inane dialog on top of it !!

Casey did a great job on the Ducati!
He rode a pretty much flawles race, its hard to beat someone who makes no mistakes.
He would of had a huge amount of pressure on him too. First ride on the Ducati, first race of the season, first place with a few laps to go, and ontop of all that he had Rossi breathing down his neck!
It wasnt the most exciting of races, but it was great seeing how comfortable he was on the Ducati, and how well he rode it. Nothing Rossi did could force him into a mistake, where as when Rossi got infront he managed to run wide and give the lead back to Stoner...
That Ducati is insanely fast though, apaprently they even brought the rev limiter down to get some more miles out of the tires, not as if they needed too considering he set his fastest lap on the last lap of the race. (ofcourse tyre wear is different when you're leading).
If the motoGP wasnt already interesting enough, i think this season is going to be fantastic
It already looks like the Ducati is the fastest bike out there at these early stages (Rossi was riding the hell out of the Yamaha to make up ground in the corners), will be interesting to see how some of the other manufacturers respond, and how the difference in tyre manufacturers pans out..
(as you could probably tell, i love the motoGP haha)

I think he also refused tobacco sponsorship.

He's been racing since he was very young (6 years old!), but came up through the 125cc and 250cc GP series - he finished second in the 250 world championship in 2005.

See http://www.caseystoner.com.au/bio.php .

He's probably the best young Aussie rider since Matt Mladin, who dominated superbike racing for several years in Australia before joining Cagiva in 500 GP racing, and after doing poorly on an uncompetitive bike, went to America and has dominated their superbike series. Most likely he'll do better than Mladin, who left GP racing too early. Come to think of it, he already has done better than Mladin, as Mladin never won a GP at the top level, although I think only Eddie Lawson won a GP for Cagiva.
