Hi all,
Im looking for fellow BB'ers in the Brisbane area for a group drive on Sunday. I intend on heading up through Mt Tamborine then onto O'Reillys. Its a great drive with lots of twists and turns as im sure most of you know!
Easy start around 10-10.30 return when out of fuel
The more the merrier.
Cheers

Dude , could be very interested, that is my home turf on week-ends, but suggest that the Beechmont Nerang rd is better fun than Tambers for ALFA driving pleasure. Keep me posted as I am always in that part of the world on weeknds and my be up for a run.

Yeah that's hard luck.
The Tamborine rd is too full of elderly day trippers heading up to buy crafts and eat scones. Way too many Camrays for my liking. Also doesn't have the natural continuity of the Beechmont Rd.
Beechmont rd is better for a few reasons.
1. Beechmont is mostly farms and acreage (tree changers) thus less day trippers to slow you down. The military own a lot of it.
2. All the Bike fraternity use the rd on weekends and they know a good rd.
3. from Canungra the rd up to Beechmont and then down to lower beechmont and nerang and back to Canungra is a natural circut. You follow the rim around of the old crater all the way. Much of the rd has recently been resurfaced and is good. Plenty of nice switchback and long sweeping left and right handers up on the top with plenty of hairpins and tight corners on the climb up and the drive down.
The downside
1. Too many Motor bikes on weekend. Hang gliders use Roisins look out so you have to be careful for pedestrians and parked cars at that point too, it is a natural bottleneck.
2. Between Beechmont and the drop down to Lower Beechmont village lots of blind tight corners.
Anyway more to report later.
Phil

If you'd like to have a Danish co-pilot, let me know!
I'm working for Volvo Trucks down here, will be going back to Denmark in late May, so would like to meet some Australian tifosi.
Living in Brisbane, so it would be great to see the countryside
Cheers,
Troels

BTW, anyone able to pick me up???
I live in Fortitude Valley... If a pick up can be arranged, I'll bring cake to the Club Night!
How's that for an offer?!?
