But, how much will you have to pay for it to get it, that's a different story. If the reserve is any higher than $2k the seller is dreaming.
Look at it like this....
It'll cost at least $20k to get that car to a high standard. At that point it'll be worth $20k! So whatever it costs you to buy it is money lost.

Tell me about the condition of your bella when you bought it.

Well.. You'd still be lucky to get 20K, it's not meant to have a 1750 and it may cost at least that to do up... nevermind your sanity and any ongoing relationships that may fall by the wayside

Yeah, saw that car yesterday. Its not a 1750, it not in good nick, the alloys aren't 'Alfa Romeo', it isn't complete. Its worth its weight in parts... There are far easier ways to a very nice Bertone Coupe.

Looking for a 71 1750 GTV
Hi Fellas,
I have a smashed up 71 1750 105 in my shed. Back end totalled by someone not looking where they were going.
This car is perfect mechanically so I'm looking for a good shell or otherwise driveable car so i can interchange parts and build a nice daily driver.
Any help in sourcing will be appreciated.
Cheers
Scott

Did anyone in Brisbane see or call about the silver 1750 with leather interior in the Weekend Courier Mail? It was about $6K if I remember correctly. Just curious as to its condition.

Another Alfa-Romeo-Gulia-Sprint-GT with a 1750 motor on ebay. What's the deal with these cars?
Why do so many ppl make the conversion. Is the 1600 a poor performer?
I understand mixing and matching engines in these cars can be achieved quite easily but does that necessarily make it right?.Unless of course you were to use the car as a track car.
These one "seems" to be in relatively good condition.

Jozza, I think it is just a case of 1750 Berlina engines having been readily available as a swap/upgrade for the 1600s instead of a more costly rebuild. That was back when Berlinas were worth even less and they were common. Today, fewer people will be willing to canabalise a Berlina for an engine and 1750 lumps are becomming harder to come by. And on top of all that, I think more Alfa people are getting fussier about correct engines in their cars.

Ah ok..that makes sense.
I was thinking they were 1750 motors from the later guilia coupe models which made me wonder why would you.But being from the berlina range makes more sense, thanks for the info. There must be a hell of a lot of berlina's with no engine's out there somwhere.

They're all the same engine really. You've just gotta remember that the sedans AND coupes have all at some stage in the past been regarded as just rusty old cars to be cannibalised to keep the better ones running.

i don't think that car has 1750 engine, i am quite sure that tha last time I saw that car it had 1600 with 10548 cams and tweaked carbies.

Nah, the cars dont exist. When they all started rusting, the coupes and the spiders had the money spent to keep the bodies going. With Alfa's lack of rust protection, a 105 body can be shot in 5-10 years even in aus climates, probably less in Nth Europe. So when Berlinas were cannibalised they probably still had decent engines but no one had ever cared about the bodies. Crush whats left of the body, take the engine, box, diff and wheels to a GT/Spider.
Some berlinas were spared, thank God

there was also number of 1750 coupes tha had eingies replaced with 2l berlina engines and there was a lot 1750 engines which were readily availabel and cheap.
The situation is now reversed and it is harder to come by a decent 1750 engine then it is to find 2l engine.

Silver 1750 Brisbane
I went and looked at the silver 1750 advertised in the courier mail.
It had been resprayed at some stage but there was rust bubbling through. Interior was black vinyl and it was incomplete. Too much work for what I want. However, everything was nice and clean and polished and from a distance it presented well.

How much were thay asking for the Silver car?
I was generalising when I said that Berlina engines find their way into coupes. The engines are the same, but the Berlina has traditionally been worth the least of the 105 line, and the poor old 2000 had the LSD, offering even more reason to consign them to the crusher for their parts.
