I think there's potential there. The car doesn't seem to be in such bad shape. If you had the means and the dedication, it could be time and money well spent.
Values are only seeming to be going up, there are worse cars to spend money on.

Ben, you're closer to that GT project than I am, and if the car is complete, it's an easy resto. What else will you do with your time in Byron?
Plus I've already bought 2 Berlinas in the last few weeks, and I can't buy every Alfa that needs rescuing!

Ben - yeah I'm buying Adam's car. Have to get a truck organised to get it here, which should happen early next week.
I'm gonna ship it straight to my mechanic, and swap the 2lt engine into the 1750. Will also use Adam's gearbox and LSD (which needs rebuilding). If the engine needs any work I'll get the head done (hotter cams, valves, porting etc), but if it's OK to drop straight in then I'll wait and do the performance enhancements later.
I want the Berlina to be a bit of a beastie street car and maybe occassional track car, while not straying too far from original. I'll lower it, probably remove the bumpers, and go for the period race scheme they used on Supers - white, with red/green bonnet stripes (as per the pic attached).
Have been meaning to post some pics of the 1750 but it's at the mechanics. If I remember to take the camera next time I'm down there I'll post some pics.

Damo - I saw a white 1750 berlina in camberwell today, lowered on minilites, cloverleaf on the side... just wondering if youve ever seen it. I was in a rush so I didnt stop (it was parked) but I think i nearly wet myself

Pete, no I've never seen it, hope I do though.
How did it look with the minilites? I'd really like to put TZ or GTA replica rims on mine, but they'll be so expensive. Superlites would be about half the price.

GTA REPS!! They're not that expensive - AU$1700 will have a set in Australia from Alfaholics including the post. I think its worth it, considering what you can spend on a set of new alloys.
Its going to be a good looking car Damo, i'm glad you've decided to stick with it. Good work buying Adam's car, although sad that another 2000 Berlina will be sacrificed!
Photos soon!

GTA rep's are cool, but I REALLY like the TZ rep's on Berlinas, except they're even more costly than the GTAs. Though one thing in favour of the GTAs, if I sell the Berlina I can keep them for the GTV.
Will wait and see how much the rest of it costs before I decide on wheels. Can't pour too much money into it!
