Ballpark cost to rebuild a LSD in Australia?

What has it cost others to rebuild their LSD rear end? I just need a ballpark figure so I can see if it is worth saving for. It will be for street use. If you have a good testimonial of getting yours done anywhere on the east coast of Australia I will be happy for you to name names too!
Most places want to see the diff first which is fair enough but I just need a guestimate.

Hi Derek,

Rob at Manning Motors in Brookvale Sydney did mine. I bought it off eBay (it was advertised as a non-LSD so I got lucky) and sent it to Rob. He put the new clutches in and tightened it up for street/track use. I forget the actual price (short term memory loss is great so I don't know how much I have into it) but the figure of $600 rings a bell for me.

Of course it depends on what's inside (if anything) when he opens it. He's worth a phone call anyway.

Derek, you could also check with Viv Hyrons at PACE in Melbourne to see what it might cost but I suspect Andrew is likely to be on the money. Phil Buggee (Bits of Italy) makes up LSD for Twin Cam Fiats (I think using a combination of the Fiat and Ford Escort diffs) and again at a cost of around $5-600 is what I seem to recall. Dave

That's cheap. Once I'd bought the LSD itself, all the bearings, seals and clutches AND paid twice to get the unit rebuilt properly (the first guy talked the talk etc) the overall cost was about £700.

Robert at Manning Motors. Located in Brookvale, Sydney. Call him -- in my experience he does it once, does it properly and the price is right.
