Double Flaring Brake Pipes

My 105 GTV2000 brake pressure reducing valve had corrosion so I decided to purchase an adjustable one from Alfaholics who said that it came with new fittings that just needed new double flared ends fitted to my pipe work.

Purchased a double flaring tool and then tried 4 times to get the tool to create a proper flare. It does not seem to be working, either the tool is not good enough for these steel brake pipes or it is me??? I had done this job many years ago but that was on a trailer brake system with copper tubing. It should not be that hard, it seems to create the flare on an angle.

I was wondering if anyone who has done this job can advise me on what Double Flare tool they used that worked, so that I may try to get one here in Perth, and any other tips would be appreciated.

Super1600 I have sent you a PM on this.

Regards
Tim

Tim,

Is the pipe your trying to flare still fitted to the vehicle?

where in Perth are you located?

Im in the motor trade and have lots of contacts, could probably loan you a flaring tool or get it done for you if pipes of the car.

My workshops in midland if that helps

cheers

Kack

Tim, I sent you a response but Kack's offer of assistance sounds like he should be able to help you to sort out the problem. Hope you are able to. Dave

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Kack.

I have one small brake pipe that needs double flaring both ends that is off the car, and the pipe that is still attached to the car that fitted into the old pressure regulating valve will also need a new double flare.

My car is at Mt Pleasant so not able to be moved. A loan tool with some advise/tips would be great. My number is 0422 935 562 or send me a PM and I will call you.

Cheers

Tim
