Information wanted: 1979 Alfetta GTV

I am looking for information for the restoration of my 1979 Alfetta GTV. I am looking for the following information:

What colours (trim and exterior) were available for 1979 GTVs?

What style wheels were available for 1979 GTVs as factory equipment ?

What style of grill should a standard 1979 GTV have? I have a three piece grill but my grill has horizontal stainless bars half way up the grill. Factory option, aftermarket, or from special edition?

Does anyone have good photos of standard cars ? (factory brouchures, road tests, ect) for a reference for placement of engine bay stickers and all the small details.

Also, is there any point to doing a concourse original restoration on one of these cars or to be more precise my car? my alfa is at the moment a white bare body I purchased from a guy in ashburton (melbourne), the first car I brought was too badly rusted and bent to fit so the first car was stripped and the white body I have now sourced as a replacement. In short even when I get all the details of a concourse restoration of this car right it still won't have matching numbers. Or am I better to put a roll cage in it and use it for sprints? Any thoughts or answers to questions welcome.

Well, entirely opinion, but i say the second option- ie cage and sprint is the go.

Why? you could easily spend $30k getting it to concourse condition. Will you ever get your money back? Definitely not. It would be a bloody nice car, and hugely appreciated by a lot of people, but i think if you got it to that level you may find yourself staring at it in the garage.

On the other hand, spend maybe $5k, get a cage, tidy it up (nothing special, just reliable with maybe a few small modifications), and spend the rest of your $30k concourse money thrashing the crap out of it round a track The fun for money ratio is unquestionable.

Is what i reckon anyway

i'd agree with mat, you would be restoring the wrong make of alfa, sad to say i know, but they wont see the value of a 105 in the foreseeable future. but if like me you want to do it well (not that mine will be concourse) then that is fine as long as you dont expect to get any profit from it.

I'd say do a bit of both. The early chrome bumper GTs are eligible for Group S historics so original cars are getting rare. From this point of view I think it's worth preserving. Mind you, I wouldn't do a concours restoration but I wouldn't cut it up or do anything that can't be reversed And you can still sprint it when it's done, it doesn't have to have a roll cage.

That sounds like the best idea. I am going to try to go to the sandown historics, spettacolo, and the MSCA sprint in november and see what I like best.

What classes are there for sprinting? And what am I allowed to modify or not modify in each catagory? Will there be someone at spettacolo who can answer all (most) of my questions about sprinting? I may join the alfa club in victoria but after been a member of another well known one make victorian car club I am a bit Hesitant to join another.
