1972 2000 GT Veloce

Hi,

I've been asked to sell what I believe to be a GT Veloce 2000 - Built 12/71 (that's what the Alfa Romeo plate says...)

CAMS log book # 20020650.

The car comes with a spare engine and gearbox plus miscellaneous spares.

This is what I know;

Engine: 2000cc
Gearbox: 5 Speed
Full roll cage with CAMS Log book (catagory to be confirmed).

The car is garaged in Croydon Park NSW.

Current Owner Joseph Macare bought it 4 November 2001 from Oliver Biady (Farmborough Heights).

It's engine number is S19866 and the Chassis Number (VIN) is AR*2410772.

The car was bought as a registered vehicle and is still eligible for registration in it's current form (although I'd reckon you'd need to be pretty 'friendly' with your blue-slip authority!!!).

Most of it's racing has been in NSW apart from Classic Adelaide.

The receipts I've collected span from November 2001 to July 2006. I'm guessing that the engine spec is somewhere amongst them but it all reads like Greek to me!

The compliance plate reports that it was Oz complied in 1972 (April) however the Alfa Romeo build plate shows 1971 (December).

It appears to have Bilstein coil-overs and upgraded brakes. Also, the carburettors are marked "Weber 34".

I have a dyno sheet from "Tilley's Dynotune" as well as a spec sheet on the alignment from when I suspect the car was last raced.

I've spent several months cleaning up the car and whilst she's loud and bumpy on the road there's no denying the car is punchy.

Any suggestions as to what additional information I might need to post, please let me know.

Cheers,

Zane.

Joe (the owner) has added an extra Differential, A Rally sump-plate and a full set of springs to the package.

Stay tuned as there might be more additions....

It is indeed....

This is Joe Macare's car. He raced it in 05 mostly before getting into MX5's with Goughy.

Do you have Joe's details?

Oh okay, I didn't know he was into Alfa's. To be honest I'm not really ready to buy one at the moment. I was dead keen, then I bought a 356 and Brian Anderson's turbo MX5 within 2 months of each other. I am out of garage space and coin! I have been keeping a keen eye on the 105 market for some year though. Just never bitten the bullet on one.

Thanks. It is however a replica. Has a 356 motor and many other Porsche parts, but the body is fibreglass. If I could afford a real Speedster, I'd be racing a Lotus HPE, not an MX5.

Quick update. The spare differential is a 4.5:1 and has never been used since it was rebuilt by John Milan.

Joe is willing to sell this separately for anyone interested.

Another update.

The complete diff is an LSD with 4.5:1 ratio built by John Milan.

Also, Joe has located another complete diff but it's disassembled.

He's also found two more engines in various states of "undress".

All of these parts are available either as part of this package or separately.
