Fuel Lead Additive- which one do you use

Hi Guy's,

Just wonder what brand of lead substitute do you use when your filling fuel. I have had a look around and brand says that they are the best, don't know which one to go for?
Shell has Valvemaster, any one used this product?

Thanks

??

Please chip in here if you've got something to add, but dont 105 series engines have hardened valve seats?
I thought it was not really nessesary to use additive.

That is my understanding.

i've been told by more than one alfa specialist that 98 RON is ideal for 105's and at a pinch you can top up a low tank of 98 with 95, but should fill up with 98 as soon as it's possible.

for what its worth, two friends with '62 Austin Healeys use a lead additive, but i know of at least a dozen 105s and various other Alfas with 1750 or 2000 engines just run premium 98 RON. 100 seems to be overkill.

Oh, and a few running on AVGAS....

Little bit confused, do I use the additive or not? I don't know if the PO put hardened valve seats when he had the head restored, is this an option or are all seats for an Alfa hardened? The head is the only part for the car i didn't restore, only checked and measured.

I would think being an aluminium head, by default the inserts would be hard. Compared to cast iron heads(eg. Austin Healey) where the seats can be cut straight into the head without the need for an insert.
