82 Spider Speakers

I want to upgrade the speakers in the footwells my '82 Spider. Are there any direct replacement for the stock speakers? Are they 5 1/4" speakers? I've heard these from Alpine may work:

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - SPS-13C2

Also can I re-use the exisiting wiring?

Thanks,
Irishal

The ones that would go in to outer metal footwells just in front of the doors?

Yes, 5 1/4", though you may have to drill a couple mounting screwholes if what's there doesn't line up.

Stock wiring should work fine if it's not all tore up and rotted out.

I ordered the speakers today from Crutchfield as they were essentially half price. I'll take photos as I install them and post up here. The original stock speakers just don't do my Kenwood stereo justice

Yup...sure did. They work great. Only problem during install was getting the cover on for the passenger side one, due to a/c being over there.
