AROSC High Performance Driving School
Check it out at www.arosc.org.
Feb 5 & 6 at the Streets of Willow
The Guest Instructor for this event is Kas Kastner(details on the web site). AROSC guest instructors John Morton and Tony Adamowicz along with Geoff Brabham , driving Kas Kastner managed Nissan Cars, won the drivers title 4 years in a row and the manufacturers title 3 years in a row.
I know I'm a bit prejudiced , but based on a pretty good flow of feedback and personal experience, if this is not the best it is d--n close to being the best and least expensive club run driving school in the country.
Not only the most fun you can have with your clothes on, but the months of smiles will turn your teeth into a bug catcher and as a side note, you'll leave a better driver (regardless of previous experience).
Space is limited, but 2 people can share 1 car if they run in the same group, i.e., Street Performance, Time Trial or Race.

Giff,
I haven't sent mine in yet either.
Shouldn't be a problem. I'll check with Steve Hamilton this PM and get back to you.
Problem will be finding rooms in the area where you won't have to sleep in your clothes and shower with your socks on. Seems there is a major soccer tournament in town.
You might want to try the following:
Devonshire Inn Motel in Rosamond - 661-256-3454
Desert Inn in Lancaster - 661-824-2518
Inn of Lancaster - 661-824-2347
Town House Motel -661-948-4218
If you're coming alone, get a room with two beds anyway in case somebody needs a bunk.

Giff,
The TT class normally doesn't fill up so I don't think you need to worry.

Geez Nick, what's goin' on
Next school is the Sat & Sun of Labor Day weekend.
You might want to consider the Novice Time Trial Group at the March event in the Cal Speedway parking lot. Course will be around 1 mile, lots of corners and lots of class room and in car instruction for Novice Group.

Dang, I don't know wat s up. You can't believe how many times I have looked forward to get together with you guys only to have something come up. Utter frustration.
Great. I'll make sure we get there. It's my wife's Birthday present... Not sure I want to race at this stage. I don't have the extra car I would like to do it with.
Thanks

33Nick - I would consider this as a very good alternative. In the few years that I was time-trialing I too could never make the schools yet I progressed through the time trial group until my rookie "X" finally came off the car.
The time-trial group is different than the race group. In the time-trial you're not doing door-to-door racing - although practice sessions can be pretty fun! With the time-trial group you can run what you brung versus most - not all - of the race group cars are trailered in.

But Wait, There's More!
Besides all the fun on the track, don't forget about the Fabulous Banquet on Saturday evening. All that activity can stir up a powerful hunger, and the Very Special and Legendary Restaurant will provide suitable mass quantities of tasty treats.
Major yummy!

I just want to have a spare car to do that with. I promised my wife the driver's school for her Birthday. I hear you though, it sounds like a good plan. Little by little, we will get there.
AND PLEASE, do not make me feel any more sorry with dinner plans and all. How dare you?
Nick

Registration Update
Spoke to Steve Hamilton last night. Attendance is looking pretty good so far. Here's what we have signed up so far.
Street Performance 15
Novice Time Trial 5
Advanced Time Trial 5
Race 5
There are always a bunch of last minute sign-ups.
Looks like we could use some more Advanced Time Trial and Race.
So, if you "think" you already know everything about driving your car, it is a good indication that you mignt not know everything. Not much wear and tear on the car since we don't get up to very high speed. Mostly 2nd and 3rd gear.
So for not much money $235 at the most, you can get 2 days of intense practice.
We have 2 Guest Instructors this time. Kas Kastner of Electromotive fame. And Tony Adamowicz is also comming back for the weekend.
Get your registration in NOW.
Congrats to Steve and Cathy. They had their 2nd kid on Jan 8: Allison. Now we have a chance to get another female Instructor in a couple of years.

Same requirements for our regular competition. Check the competition code at www.arosc.org.
All that's required for Time Trial is a 5 point harness on a teched street legal car. If it's open, I believe it has to have a roll bar 2" (min) above your helmet. They may accept a manufacturers certified roll protection on some new cars, but you should check with Paul Ellis.
If you suck up to the right people, you may even get some instruction from an instructor who drove Formula 1 for Ferrari or one who successfully guided Nissan to a number of Driver and Manufacturers Championships (9 combined I believe).
