Hmm. My car qualifies. I assume that I could do the Race School, given that I've done several years of time trialing with AROSC and other groups?

Jack,

Norm got some of it, the rollbar w/crossbrace is the biggest thing but all the normal AROSC race stuff is needed. That means catch tanks for oil (and H2O on those that are H2O cooled), arm restraints or a window net, safety wire, etc. The other "big" thing is Nomex (or equivalent) clothing. That's about it. There are few things that we recommend but don't require. I think you'd enjoy race school. It's more low key than an actual race but you still get the feel for running side-by-side.

Jack,
I think I remember your car from Oct.
However, one "feature" on your car must be reviewed with our Dir of Tech and Safety.
We do limit the number of wheels on the car.
Hope to see you next weekend.

I'll have to get a window net or arm restraints, but that's probably do-able. I've got everything else, including the suit.

I'll see if I can rearrange my schedule.

Thanks very much for the responses.

Nice Weather Predicted!

Well, I just checked the 10-day weather forcast at the Weather Channel's website. It's predicting a very nice weekend for the Driving School! Gotta love it.

Great!

Another rain/snow-out and I would have been really disappointed.

I'm registered in the Street performance class. I have Falken 451 tires on my car now. Should I come on these tires or should I drive to the track on yokohama A032Rs on my extra set of rims. If there is a wet skid pad I think that the falkens will handle that better but the YOkos will definitly be better on the track. This is my first track event of any kind so all suggestions are appreciated.

The car is a Honda s2000.

Looking forward to saturday.

Drive in on the tires you want to learn. You don't want max traction on the skid pad. We want to show you car control. Not much control to be learned if you are still attached to the pavement.
If you are thinking of competition then the Yokos are what you want on the ground.
Some new info on preparation. Heard the track lunch guy is more flaky than usual so bring your own lunch and drinks. Assume we will only provide a restroom and a nice piece of dirt to park your car and stuff on.
Looks like the weather is gonna be GREAT!
See you there.

So, Who's going to be there????????

Other than myself, Norm, Paul, Steve, and Bruce, who's going? If you come out please stop by and introduce yourself as I don't yet know to many of you yet.

Another check of the forcast a minute ago, and all is well, partly cloudy w/ temps in the low to mid 60's, and NO RAIN.

Yea,
Wear a BB on your forhead so us instructors can say "Hi".

Or better yet: put a BB on your helmet, front. That way non BB'ers will think it is some sort of a cult, a movement, heck a whole new religion . . . . .

See whom ever on Saturday.

First Event Report...........

The first day of the school was great, I learned alot, great instructors. For those of you who know the track at the Streets, the Novice TT group used the shorter course. In my first on track session getting use to the car and the track, I only got to third gear on the straight, second everwhere else. And by the way I like rev-limiters, well, atleast I know it works. During the classroom session after the first on track run, I was talking with several of the instructor, and they gave me some pointers which I tried on the next track seesion. This time I run third gear on most of the track, braking slightly before the turns. The only two places that saw second gear were the hirpin and the 90+ degree right hander onto the straight. By the middle of the session I was hitting the rev-limiter in two places on the in thrid gear.

If you ever have a chance, take the AROSC High Performance Driving School, the instructors were great, thanks guys.

Someone else will need to report on Sunday, as the dinner Saturday night left me not feeling well in this morning so I came home, knowing I wasn't going to be able to concentrate on driving. Saturday morning there was about 60 cars, at least it seemed like that many, and the people I meet were great. There were a wide range of cars, BMW's, Subaru's, a vary nice looking '67 Mustang, and of course quit a few Alfa's.

I didn't take a camera, so I hope someone else can post some pictures. And if anyone got any of me that would be great, as I don't have any of me driving the car, I find it difficult to get out, run a few yards, take a picture, and get back in the car without missing a shift.
