Laguna Seca 2010
Hey Terry,
My wife Mary is interested in Laguna Seca, so count us in.
3/15-16/2010 corrrect?
Mary would drive in DE. I would do TT, but in Group 1 instead of 2 so that we have time to swap seats as we share the car.
Let us know how the plans form up.
2 down, 98 to go!
Thanks.
Roy.
Response from Terry Major:
thanks for the info, we lost the date, but are working on more, as we speak.
Terry

Just from our little corner, we have
April and Nizam (Milano x 2) = 2 entries
Roger B. (GTV6) = 1 entry
G.P. (GTV6) = 1 entry
I'm pretty sure 75Evo will be there to kick my *** , so
75Evo (Milano) = 1 entry
That's 92 to go.
I'm going to get some tacit commitments from my (non-Alfa) friends who wanna do HPD's at Laguna. I think I'm good for five more spots in the HPD section. That leaves 87 spots.

We shall return!
Remember this guys?
(obviously, there were other makes that filled up the field, but this was an Alfa-only postershot we made)
We had an Alfa Cup Race!!
The paddocks were almost as awesome as the ALMS events!!

As much as I would like to go to Laguna Seca, I won't be able to. Next time perhaps.

Wow, that looks like a blast. I haven't been there to watch a race since Zanardi was racing champ cars and cut the corner at the corkscrew.
I've never done a track event before so excuse the lame question, but how much experience / equipment do you need to take a few laps around the track? My '91 Spider is totally stock.

For AROSC's competition program (AROSC-HPD Home Page) you can get some idea here:
Vehicle: AROSC Vehicle Safety Requirements
Personal: AROSC Personal Safety Requirements
I don't know if it has changed, but at least up until recently, the club also had the lunch intro sessions which is even less "formal" than the HPDE group. If you are literally thinking a couple of laps, then that would probably suit you, and I think your stock car should be ok for that. Though, check with club officials.

Hector - driving on the track falls into many categories; from "parade laps" (usually no more than 40mph, no passing, no fooling around), to non-competitive lapping (takes many forms, like a High Performance Driving Event, or HPDE), to Time Trials / Time Attacks (you're driving against the clock) to wheel-to-wheel racing (like when you saw Zanardi come through the corkscrew three-wide).
The AROSC has a HPDE program you should to take you and your Spider to: AROSC HPDE

Hector, and to all interested:
We, AROSC, do not have track rides. We have started a program called "Driver Education" for cars without the 5/6 point belts required for competition cars. And we have a 2 day High Performance Driving School at the end of February.
Unfortunately convertables need a roll bar for both.
However, at any of our Time Trials you could get a ride along with one of our licensed drivers, at speed, on the track. Next event is Willow Springs January 24-25.
But we will talk more about this on Jan 2 when we all meet someplace near Glendora for our first annual "The Day After New Year's Day Ride".
More info on our Competition group:
AROSC-HPD Home Page
To Glen (HeavyMetalAlfa), consider your self invited to any of our events.
re: the photo of the white Milano leading the pack - I "think" that was the last lap of the race when I had just passed the field, thru the Corkscrew. Or at least that is how I remember it . . . . .

Thanks Nizam and Paul for the info. How much do the HPD events cost? Unfortunately, I don't have a roll bar nor $$ to put one in the spider. But I could bring the Camry (stop laughing) just for the education, esp for my daughter to learn this stuff too.
How much $ are the HPDE events?
I may attend the Willow Springs event just to be a spectator and maybe sneak in a ride around the track with someone who knows what they're doing.
Nizam, where is that cool GIF of the Milano getting air from?
