I just posted the event summary and entry form at AROSC-HPD Home Page. We haven't decided on the course yet but we're considering both #13CW and our normal #14CW.
Also, last weekend's results have been posted. For TT, only the best lap will be noted due to the changes in timing procedures.
Finally, I'll be off-line for a couple weeks ... no phone, no email (you guessed it ... VACATION!!!). So if you ask questions, don't be surprised if I don't answer right away.

What Course
Any chance on making a commitment on the track course we will be running at Buttonwillow? I would like to spread the word to other clubs. Any course is fine with me, but many clubs only want to do 13CW.

Things are looking good for us and the Buttonwillow event
We finished up the suspension overhaul which consisted of new shocks, springs and bushings. The test drive went smooth (haha a pun). One of the lugs stripped which forced us to replace all the studs and lugs. We had plans for new studs anyway. On our Datsun 240Z, the hubs must be removed to change the studs. Servicing the wheels bearings is always a good thing to do on a racecar. The rears went well, ran out of time to start the fronts.

The super is ready and already tech'd. Buttonwillow here i come.
Dan
ps: I'm hoping for 14 CW because the only other time I've driven there ( the School of VARA last Feb ) that was the configuration. Is the "bus stop" hard ?

Every time I've been to Buttonwillow with AROSC, it's been 14CW that has been used, I don't see them changing it now.
Dan, why don't we pit together, you can share the shade of my awning, unless of course, you're going to rent a garage.

Looks like this is turning out to be a good event. It's too far for me to tow, or else I'd be there. I am going to the VARA event at Las Vegas on the 17th and 18th.
Have fun and finish.

Hey Gifford,
Yeah, we can pit together. I have an easy-up, 4 chairs, a quiet rv generator, perhaps even a compressor. You bringing the big trailer ?

I have driven both # 13 CW and # 14 CW & CCW. All are fun with #13 having more turns and slowing down the back section which makes Riverside turn slower. I would vote for #13 just to be different and as AROSC has not run it that way new lap records would be set.

#13 with the "bus-stop" is more fun, but #14 is more practical for AROSC because it creates one more safe passing zone for the time trial groups.
I can't wait to be out there. I'm gonna bring the GTA. I haven't driven it on a race track in a couple years.

Well, count me in. Although I am still *in recovery*, my doc said to give it a try. So I shall be there. Also volunteering to assist with the newbies group.

transponders and time trial
This may open an old discussion again, but now that the timed laps are done with transponders and there wont be a 15 second delay between cars, why can't the racers get credit towards the timed laps?
I realize this would decrease revenue if several people don't have to pay for both TT and race. I gather the number is small though. But the competition would be larger within the classes.
Racers would not have extra practice runs, their best lap time would be the one that counts, same as with the time trialers.
If I personally offer to volunteer as a novice driver instructor, I wont have time to be in two groups for practice runs, so why pay extra? And I still would like to have a shot at a lap record.

Interesting.
Maybe the Racers could pay a small fee to get Timed Laps towards Time Trials records.
