I haven't had my morning coffee yet so maybe I'm dreaming......
Do you guys actually have an Alfa wheel to wheel racing series?
Do you have a race some time in March?
If I could get a semi full of Midwest Alfa vintage racers together would we be allowed to compete in one event?

Not yet but the 2009 schedule is probably not complete yet.

I sent you a PM but for the record the answer is almost certainly, YES.

Since most of you west coasters chickened out of our all Alfa race at the Chicago convention, maybe we will have to come to you.

Do you ever race at Laguna Seca? I think I could get some people together for that easier anything else.

Andy,

I don't even have an Alfa and they let me race. So if you get a crew of midwest alfa guys I am sure you would be welcome with open arms. The more alfas the better. I can think of nothing better than doubling the size of the field for an alfa cup race. Laguna Seca would be awesome. The club has not been there in many years and it would be nice to return to LS. We have many great tracks in both southern and northern calif..

This is a "Heads Up" that there is a new track being built in the Chuckwalla Valley (just outside Desert Center off the I-10 about 40 mi West of Indio). I know, there's always some sort of rumor going around about a track being built but one sounds much better than most. We'll talked to the people building it and they say the will break ground in July and be ready to run in the fall. We'll be keeping track and I'll keep you posted whenever I learn anything useful.

In the mean time, we, in conjunction with TCRA, have a tentative date scheduled for November 14 & 15 so mark your calendars. I haven't posted it on the AROSC website but I expect to shortly.

I'm sorry, I guess it wasn't very clear. It would be at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway (CVR), the new track I mentioned in my previous post.

Bruce this track looks like a great alternative to Buttonwillow with lots of turns and I assume some elevation changes. Here is the link:

Thanks for the link! Interesting layout but short straights it seems. I hope they complete it in time to run it this year, it should be fun.

All the better to keep the 2.7L 911's at bay in your Alfa

I seriously doubt that the CVR track layout drawing is "to scale". If it were, it would be the widest track I've ever seen.

CVR looks nice but...

It's really in the middle of nowhere. There aren't any amenities for miles. And it gets really hot out there.

With the economy going more sour everyday in California, I can't think of a worse time to open a new track. My lack of participation in the last year has been due to the economy. I'm also restoring a 1968 Mustang that I want to run at time trials--the Mustang is competing for my limited car hobby funds.

There are some elevation gradients on the site map. Looks like a slight elevation change at the apex to #2 (going CW) , appears to be a sharp off camber change at the chicane before the back straight . Back straight seems to be a steady climb with a quick drop into the esses at the end .
Packed and ready to go.
