Sears Point
I think they have done an amazing job making Sears Point safer. Many of the big impact areas (turns 1, 2 and the carousel come to mind) have had hills removed completely. Other spots, like the esses and turn 10 can still bite you. Frankly, I think Laguna has more stuff to hit than Sears. Tracks as safe as Buttonwilllow are few and far between. I wouldn't suggest doing the big track at Fontana if Buttonwillow startled you ; )

photos, etc.
Love those photos (especially the banana peel - ha ha!!! is THAT why it was
slippery out there!????)!!!
Anybody have the results handy? When do they usually get posted? My 9-yr-old was chomping at the bit to leave, so we left before seeing just how slow I was. I think I'm going to have to join the Alfa race so I can get faster....
Sure is a long stretch before the next track event.... bet we wait until
the week before to get the replacement starter in place, though!
It was really nice to see #33 on the track again - I still remember it going through the s's at Riverside. Hope Anthony can get it up to Charlie's speed.
And I must also say that #75 was the most fun car to see on the track. Holy cow, a car that big on 3 wheels. What is under the hood on that thing????

Hi Judy,
Car #75 is the same car you drove at the Streets of Willows back in 1994 when I attended the AROSC driver's school.
Anyway, it's a mildly modified 3.0 12-Valve. Suspensin is also very mildly modified. Still have the stock front and rear sway bars. Nothing fancy really.
I didn't know it was on 3 wheels .

Never mind, Pat. One red GTV is similar to the next one,
Congrats on your win!

There are two maroons on late GTVs: rosso amaranto and faggio. Rosso amaranto to me is more wine colored, and faggio is more black or purple (egglant). My 74 GTV #46, which was there, is rosso amaranto.

I just found the program I got at the April 23, 1977 AROSC timetrial at Willow Springs, called the "Wonderful Willow Invitational." The program was done on a mimeograph machine. I drove up from Carlsbad recklessly in my parents' 73 Dodge Coronet with two buddies to watch. It was then a one-day event. I spectated at a lot of the Riverside TTs in that period, but this is the only Willow one I ever went to. Here are the entrants:
Group 1
Dan Bernstein, 1750 Spider
Bill Biggs, 1750 Spider (later bought an SZ)
Don Egle, 2000 GTV
Phyllis Gaylard, 2000 GTV
Robin Adrian, Lusso
Bob Meadows, 2000 GTV
Dave Meredith, 1300 Spider
Raul Perez, 1750 GTV
Don Peters, 1750 Berlina
Don Swears, 1600 Spider
Jerry Wright, 2000 GTV
Fred Zimmerman (the O'side one, not Santa Barbar) 1600 Sprint
Group 2
Shelley Adrian, Lusso
Art Canning, 2000 Spider
Joe Crevier, Bora
Don Dierking, Abarth Simca
Carlo Frosini, Abarth OT
Alan Gott, 2000 GTV
Bill Henry, Alfetta GT
Don Jaharis, GTA (I worked for him for a summer in Cardiff; Don sold this GTA for $1200 in 1978)
Charlie Thieriot, Alfetta
Dave Rice, 1600 Spider
Alan Ward, 2000 GTV
Wally Williams, 2000 GTV
Paul Zobel, 1300 Spider
Pretty cool to have stumbled across this. It was tucked into my 1977 copy of the AROSC competition code. I have BW pics of this event if anyone's interested. I'd have to dig them out.

Buttonwillow Results
Sorry for the delay but we are in the process of moving the AROSC website so things are a bit of mess. If you just can't stand waiting a bit longer for the results, PM me with your email address and I'll email them to you.
