AROSC Track Fees

so, got the Buttonwillow mailer today and it was only due to my lighting quick reflexes that i was able to recover from falling off my chair when i got to the registration page with the fees.
$500 US Dollars to do all three events?? $400 for TT and race??

don't suppose Bruce and Norm have a little bank account in the Caymans......

seriously... what gives? has the track jacked up their prices that much? (would be amazing considering it is located in the armpit of California).

am i whining too much? don't get me wrong here, i am the AROSC track events (damn near) #1 supporter, but it seems like the fees are not just going up every year, but every event.

Peter

Peter,

I've got a deal for you. You can have all the money in my Caymans Island account if you let me take a couple laps in #73 at Buttonwillow.

Seriously, the costs for putting on these events keep going up and our pricing hasn't maintained the pace. In 2003 we lost $6000 at Buttonwillow. In 2004 we raised prices and cut the loss to $2000. I'm afraid all we're trying to do is eliminate the red ink.

The Cayman's was an unbelievably good guess. It is, in fact the resting place of the HUGE participation fees we charge - nearly 100% of which are do to increased insurance costs. Visitation rights are available to insurance execs - which, unfortunately, Bruce and I are not (yet).

AROSC Pricing

I can vouch for what Bruce and Norm are saying. We needed to go up again on Buttonwillow just to get back to breakeven status. We've been a bit underpriced the past 2-3 years. It costs what it costs. The good news is, unless insurance and track fees go up yet again, we should be able to hold steady at these prices for a good while now.

We (Bruce and I) did a competitor survey leading up to last year's TT Board meeting. Our prices are still the lowest in the game, only one or two outfits are close, notably Touring Car Club, and I think our prices are still somewhat lower even than them, and I would take our events over theirs any day.
