2008 Northwest Convention
Is it true that AROO will be hosting their own Alfa Romeo Convention , despite AROC agreement to have Chicago host it? Rumor is that AROO will be inviting all West Coast chapters, having a concours, track event and autocross too.

There is no truth to that rumor whatsoever. AROO made a presentation to AROC for the 2008 convention, but Chicago was chosen due to the fact that they are the oldest chapter in the country, and deemed to the appropriate appropriate choice for a 50th anniversary event.
We will be seeking to host the 2009 event however, and hope that you can join us.

Thanks for the clarification. I hope the AROO bid is successfull, and will definitely start planning and saving for the trip. I assume the 2009 convention location will be announced at the upcoming convention in Michigan. Do you have a rough idea what month your event will be held?

George,
If we are selected to host the 2009 convention, it looks like the dates will be 7/15/2009 through 7/20/2009. It will be a great (make that "dry") time to visit Oregon....hope to see you there.

It's always a great time to visit Oregon. That's just "Oregon sunshine".

If we are selected to host the convention, track day will be Friday, July 17 at Portland International Raceway.
Hope to see you there,

And as an added bonus, the racetrack should have at least a new surface, and possibly a new course layout. Just like a bit of body work and a respray for one of our cars!
We are also planning an autocross course as well, also at PIR on the same day probably in the infield lot.
Finally, there will be a series of TSD rallies throughout the week, just in case there isn't enough driving events. (Never a problem for AROO)

Thanks for the 2009 Convention teaser.
Hmmm, having Time Trials and Autocross on the same day sounds like one or both of the events will be compromised. At minimum, it will make a long day for those of us who enter both events. Especially if a spouse also drives.

Possible 2009 Convention
If you do at least as good as you did in 2000, it will be a great success.
We'll start planning now.
That wasn't rain. It was just some thick mist.

2009...Gives me plenty time to make sure the GTA is ready for a very long road trip. I now have 2 years to build the spare motor to run on pump gas.

Guess you need to build a car for Dee. How about a Berlina?

So I hear it is on now...?
We still have Chicago to go - I now - but it is cool to think that by the time Portland rolls around, there'll be new Alfas rolling around the streets...
