I've got the same question, plus, is there a webpage for information? I missed going to Seattle in 2005, so I'd like to try to come to Oklahoma since I've never been there.

Okie here...

I've been too busy to participate in the ongoing convention planning, but I can asssure you that it will be a tremendous event, just like it was in 1988 ( when I had time to help).

Look foward to:

Nice and reasonably priced accommodations
Fun activities for kids and spouses
A great and very scenic rally
A beautiful park-like concourse setting, with maybe a surprise or two
A fun Autocross on the public streets downtown in the shadow of the high rises
A great track day on a fun and safe track http://www.hallettracing.net/
Great evening activities

We look foward to having ya'll! Be sure to write your ALFABB handle on your name tag so I can greet you. I intend to help with and participate in the Autocross and Trackday events. I will probably help with tech/safety inspections. Hopefully I can take enough time to get the hotrod GTV ready, otherwise, it will be the wife's Spider. I may try to organize a special ALFABB meet and greet if there is suficient interest. Maybe either a group breakfast or cocktail hour...any preferances? Look foward to some great hospitality. Us Okies are friendly folks and you may be surprised at the extent of our Alfa knowledge and enthusiasm. A couple of our members have pretty impressive collections.

Oh yea....bring some sunscreen. I promise it will be toasty here.

Any comments from 1988 atendees?

Ciao......David aka Okiealfaaddict

Alfacliff,

I'm not a member of the Oklahoma AROC chapter, but I know the convention is based in Tulsa on June 14-18. Track events are at Hallet raceway, and I have been told the street autocross is planned to be around a closed-off city block, allowing a bigger course than at the 1988 Tulsa convention (where we had a really great time).

The convention name is Alfa Deco 2006 and I assume (hope?) a website will be up soon.

Anthony,

It's about 23 hour one way at the speed limit according to my mapping software. Are you thinking about going? If I go with the car, maybe a caravan would be in order, at least going, as I'd probably stop for a few day to see family in Albuquerque on the way back?

If I were to go it'd be a bonzai run with Simon to shoot pictures for the bb. We'd do well over the speed limit both ways and only pull off the road to get gas. It's still way to early to tell.

Thanks George. I sure hope we aren't in the same Autocross class this time. You smoked me last time! (18 years ago!). I'll post more details as the plans progress.

Some 6 years ago I made the run from north of Oklahoma city to Laguna Niguel, CA, by myself in my current verde (similar to the run you guys would make). Only stopped for gas & food and slept a few hours next to the semis at a truck stop. Forgot how long it took

Has anyone made reservations? If so, is there a group rate?

An idea I had: Why not a big chalk board where BB'ers could log in on arrival both with BB and full name. We could have a time set for a gathering in the bar one night? Also maybe a map of the USA where you could put a pin showing your home town. Might be interesting to see where everyone came from.
