Trackmaster's Racing
My wife will wants to get me a day out in the track as a birthday gift and she found these guys:
http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/
They do have seem to have track events in all the major tracks around here (Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Sears Point, etc).
Has anybody ever tried them? The safety requirements are pretty minimal (compared to the AROSC events at least). No harness, no fire extinguisher... I'm not sure if that's a good sign...
I'm thinking of doing the Jan 8th event in Laguna Seca.
Cheers,
Vangelis

Haven't run with them in a few years but they were a great bunch of guys...good program.. plenty of track time compared to NASA's HPDE's which were getting crowded and less track time as a result.

Why race on Monday? Fewer people?
I'm hoping to head down to LA for the Time Trial with the AROSC (it's a long drive but for $240, you get 2 days of track time), but after that I'd like to get some track time with some of you NorCal folk.

Monday is the only day that they are accepting newcomers/beginners if I'm not mistaken... And yes, Monday should definetely draw a smaller group...regardless they give you plenty of tracktime relative to other groups...
Make sure that you have appropriate brake pads for this technical track. Get your driver application in early and have a great time. Trackmasters is much more discerning about the people they allow on track...usually requiring some previous track experience.

The Sunday event at Laguna Seca is sold out... Even Monday appears to have quite a few registered cars.
I'll let you guys know how it went.
The AROSC events are a lot of fun and a great deal for the $$. When I lived in Santa Barbara it was a lot easier to get to Willow Springs. Unfortunately, it's a bit too far for me now that I'm up in the Bay Area. Too bad AROSC stopped doing their yearly Laguna Seca TT. I wonder why they don't get up here anymore. Maybe cost?
Cheers,
Vangelis

Wouldn't be surprised if Monday sells out. You ought to have a great time...Are you taking the GTV?

So I did end up going to the Laguna Seca event organized my TMR and I had a great time! A very well run event, 3 run groups (advanced, intermediate and novice), each got five 25min sessions, all started on time and ran without any incidents.
Laguna Seca is a great track and we lucked out with the weather as well... Sunny and in the 70s.
A nice group of people and a pretty impressive collection of cars: There were lots of 911s, a couple of M3, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ford GT, some Miatas and S2000s, and a few others.
I definitely recommend it... A great alternative for those of us living up north.
Cheers,
Vangelis

Good to hear Vangelis. Laguna track events seem to be available for smaller clubs only in the beginning of the year, and mostly on weekdays. They're expensive too. But what the heck, at least I don't have to drive 6 hours on I-5 to get there. I'll be at Laguna Seca on Feb. 14th with Hooked On Driving.

And apparently Laguna Seca will be closed from mid May to mid June for track repairs which makes it even harder to get track dates.
Next thing I'll try is probably Sears Point which I've never been to before.
Have fun at Laguna Seca... It's a great driver's track.
Cheers,
Vangelis
