We are going to the Mt. Washington event

this weekend and would like to hook up with anyone who is also going.
We will be staying at the Inn at Thorn Hill and would enjoy having dinner with anyone who might be going.
Let me know.
Thanks.
Mike

Mike,
I'm strongly considering going to the hillclimb but would only go for one day, probably to the Saturday practice runs, to avoid the Sunday afternoon traffic jams heading south.

Here's a question for those who've been to to this event in the past few years...
Somehow I formed the impression that the viewing area for the race is limited to just the starting area. Does anyone know if there are viewing spots along the course, or is it closed off to spectators. The hillclimb website www.climbtotheclouds.com/ doesn't seem to mention this.

It's a nice 3+ hr ride each way for us in the GTV, worthwhile if we can see some hillclimb action.

Mt. Washington and North Conway

I've been through there a few times lately and here's a heads up. If you come up this weekend for the hillclimb, I would suggest avoiding the north end of town, as the road is torn up and all dirt. I usually take West Side road to avoid North Conway's congestion. If you take West Side road, take it all the way to Rt. 302, and then turn right, back toward Rt. 16, and then turn left (north) toward Mt. Washington.

While you are on West Side road, I would suggest a brief stop at Cathedral Ledge to view the rock climbers. You can take a quick 5 minute drive to the top which offers a great view of the surrounding valley. As for viewing areas at the hillclimb, I recall there was a spectator viewing area a hundred yards or so in the woods on the right side of the road. Usually marked off with that yellow tape.

I'm planning on arriving saturday morning, staying over to sunday.
