Alfa shop in Queens?
Hey all,
My brother just brought his 164 to an alfa specialist in ridgewood, ny, Alfa Import Center. Does anyone know anything about these guys? I'm thinking of bringing my milano there for a transaxle bushing that needs replacing and it would be nice to know if they're reputable. Also if anyone knows how much the transaxle bushing job would cost that would be helpful as well.
thanks
evan

Joe is a gentleman and a great mechanic. He has an equally skilled Pisanne(spell?), also named Giusseppe (spell?). Straight forward and honest. Not cheap, but fair and reasonable and will always stand behind his work. When fixing Alfas or maintaining them, you don't want someone cheap!!

a most excellent wench -- he has been mainteaning my '6 for 8 years now (or is it 9) and last year did my 3.0 (i've been very, very pleased) and he maintains my '6 for the track (time trials) and a gentlemen (both on and off the track). if he were being rated it would be "highly recommended" or 5-star (assuming a 1 - 5 scale)

Great people
Joe and the folks at Alfa Import Ctr are great mechanics and great people, they did a good job on my 164 and took extra time to make sure my alignment was correct. I got a chance to verifiy this via a 2800 mile trip to San Diego The car performed beautifully and I feel it was one of the best cars anyone could pick for such a journey. A 164L is truly in its element touring cross country.

Griff, when did Guiseppe start wearing drag and serve adult beverages? Am I missing something?

i've heard good and bad things about alfa import center and as a matter of fact, most of the alfa shops around the ny metropolitan area.
would it be in bad taste to write the truth about our experiences with these shops here?
personally, i've had very good experiences with alfa sportscar in baldwin, long island, but i haven't been there in quite some time (years).
i think it would be helpful for those of us looking to get some honest work done.

IMO what you might or might not have "heard" about a shop is meaningless; what you have observed or experienced (yourself, first hand) is relevant.
