Wow. That looks like a tremendous investment in time. I suppose if you are good with sheet metal it might not be quite as harrowing, but it looks like a lot of work. Are you married?

This POS looks like a quick way to change that condition!

She's been driven hard 'n put away wet.

Not much of a Veloce - without a drivetrain.

I dunno if I'd even bother making it a race car.

Giulia Sprint GTV

It's a '67 - quick tell Kai !!

If you were single / had an understanding wife / want to be single again, it's restorable & at least most of the trim is there. Any motor will make it run, while you source the correct motor.

My '64 Sprint GT was dragged, (bodily), off a farm & onto a trailer - found without hubs & one sideshaft, missing the motor, box & instruments.

Over the past 10 years, I've found 3 x '64 Sprint GT motors, a Sprint GT box, a NOS radiator & even a set of NOS instruments. I've bought new hubcaps & lights, indicators, etc, etc. I've got a donor '68 GT 1300 Junior, so have all those little bits & brackets.

I had to move it from my folks house the other day - Dad needs the space for his '60 Alfa Sprint, (guess where my stash of Giulietta stuff ended up), still 10 years of rent free storage ain't bad - I will be paying in other ways for years to come.

The '64 body is a bit shabby, actually a lot shabby, but time is on my side & seeing as it's an early car, I'm happy to save it. I'm reasonably good with metalwork, have a MIG welder & do all my own painting, etc, etc.

Here's the '64 on a trailer, behind an Isuzu KB LWB pick-up, on the verge opposite my folks place, (take note of how we live in South Africa). The 7" 5 spoke Crusader's don't fit under the deep wheel arches of the early cars, hence the 14" steel rear wheels. I've got the correct 15" wheels & tyres for the car.

Note the '30's Austin 7 single seater race car on the back of the pick-up.

Cheers
Greig

alpa or alpo

alfisti SA,
if shipping wasn't too costly, i'd sell you a decent front section (step nose)for your car.

'64 Sprint GT

Um...... If I'd known how bad the car would look in the pictures, I may not have actually posted them..........

Actually the pictures make the car look worse than it is, the big brown patches are light surface rust, not holes. The nose cone is a bit lacy on the bottom & has a few large dents in it, but nothing that I can't MIG back together again. I have a donor '68 1300 dip nose, so will have enough bits to resurrect yea olde '64.

For comparison, here's my '69 1300 GT J + the '61 Giulietta. Man that '69 was a hooligan machine. It was my Student car & was in the middle of a very sympathetic restoration when my Company transferred me to the opposite end of the South Africa for 3 years. I'm finally back at the coast again & building at the new house. I'll get back into the resto when the new garage is finished.

Yes that is a dent on the front bumper, it was there when I got the car, I have a NOS pair of bumpers for her, yes those are stock 14" steel wheels, she now has 7" Cromadora 5 spoke rims, yes that is a boy racer GTA quadrifoglio on the side & yes I did toss the 2 little round reflectors on the eyebrows of the '61.

Grazie
Greig
Love that '69 1300, she's part of me

More Pics

Hi Jeff

Here's the '57 & the '61 together - middle of Summer, a 100mph+ burn along the back roads of Port Elizabeth, South Africa - great life !!

The unrestored one is the other '57, a very original barn find & a future project.

The Spider is the newest addition to the stable, it's a '60 Normale.

So many cars, so little time / money / garaging.........
