Bit-torrent strictly speaking isn't legal though it does depend on what your downloading

One member said it was on youtube so hopefully the bbc haven't pulled it down as this is probably the easiest way to watch it even though the quality will note be as good

Well actually, bit torrent is NOT illegal; it is only a protocol for transmitting data. There are several legitimate reasons to use the bit torrent protocol, it just such an efficient way of transmitting large files that there are many peer to peer file swapping servers that use it.

BBC has ordered Youtube to take down the episodes, at least for now.

The bittorrent protocol is completely legal, the thing that has become known as torrenting is using the bittorrent protocol to illegally download the .exe or the .dmg from a normally purchased bit of software. I.E. you can buy Sony Vegas Pro 8 from a store or online for $200+, but one can download a setup.exe from a site while paying nothing. On the legal side, one can only download certain things from torrenting, such as themes for computers, I have used bit torrent to download something called Vista Inspiriat 2 which is a theme that overlays the image/behaviour of the windows, taskbar, start menu, etc. And that is completely legal.

Now, back to Alfas.
