Fish line trick?

What is the fish line trick I've heard of to get into a stuck trunk, and how can it be executed on a GTV?

I could be mistaken, but isn't that something preventative to be done before you can't get into the trunk? I believe it involves tying a bit of fish line to the latching mechanism in such a way that a tug will open it, and running it out through a drain plug or something.

I know, the trunk is open, I just had to break the handle to open it.
