I love this folks, keep the stories coming !
Its amazing how many Alfas have high miles, compared to other marques. I mean, how many Ferraris do you see with over !00K miles? Vanishingly few. Most of the cars I've seen for sale have under 50K. That tells me that Alfas give a LOT more value for the money and sweat. Really, its hard to find Alfas with under !00,000 miles.
I'm picking up a GTV6 that has 174,000 miles on it, and although it does come with a rebuilt 5,000 mile engine, I wonder how my customers will react to a car with miles like that. Its always easier to sell something with less than 100k, and up to 115,000 seems to be acceptable to most real Alfisti, but beyond that is hard to sell. I'm honestly not only thinking of the commercial aspect, but of the hope of keeping that beautiful Alfa alive and on the road. Its one thing when someone has put those miles on themselves, and loved and maintained the car through thick and thin, and another thing when someone is looking to buy an Alfa.
I say, think about all the great miles it has already seen, and look to put a couple hundred thousand more miles on it, winding down a twisty country road, big grin on your face!!

I agree with H.M.A. Glenn on this subject. A high mileage well maintained and properly driven Alfa will cost less to operate and maintain than a lot of the low mileage Alfas out there.
Glenn, are you going to the convention? If so, I hope to meet you there.

Hey Greg,
Yes I am going!! And very exited about it. Don't get to meet a lot of Alfisti up here in Maine, looking forward to meeting many of the great Alfa charactors on the BB !! I'll be there Thurs through Sun. Will have a cool GTV6 with me also !
Just now got back from a road call on an LS, drove 90 miles roundtrip in my current daily driver, an 86 GTV6 with 150 plus K miles. Before I went, I had to to do a guibo/flange/driveshaft repair on the GTV6 and was pleased to get no vibration at all from the drive train. Someone before me had broken the flange at the forward/flywheel guibo and did a poor welding job. When it broke again, it took a big chunk of guibo with it, much to Dave's[Alfapocalypse] chagrin, as he was using the car to go get keys made when it happened. Not your fault Dave !!
