Well, between Bill and I, we now know that it was a 1934 8C 2300 Touring-bodied Alfa Romeo complete with at least one verifiable source as far as the year and displacement. And with your picture this one should be well tied down and authenticated.

I can't verify this, but I'm pretty sure Joseph and Mary travelled to Bethlehem in an Alfa! I read somewhere that Jesus was born in the back seat

Apologies for my warped humour!

Prince Bernhard, the father of the current queen of the Netherlands, drove a 8c 2900. He liked fast cars and became a personal friend of Enzo Ferrari,

His grandson Bernhard (nephew of the queen) recently bought a black 8c Competizione. Okay, the guy is not that famous, but luckily he did not store the car somewhere far away from the public.

Ayrton Senna owned a silver metallic Alfasud TI when he was competing in the british Formula 3 championship.

Famous & Celebrity Alfa Owners / Rita Hayworth

Thanks for the correction, I simply copied and pasted from the source, the movie stars of that era were before my time.

I did some more digging this evening a little deeper, a little more uncomfortable for me, trying to look at it as an archival material search and not prying into a life that was not mine --- I did not find the Angie Dickinson photo, but I did find a picture of the Rita Hayworth car, the photo is b/w and the car appears to be black. The photo was taken in February 1961 and the caption on the back says: "Former Rita Hayworth car at Jim Hosick's" and then there's a San Diego, California street address. I don't know if Jim Hosick owned the car or if it's a dealership or something else. But because of privacy rights I am not going to post the street address, nor am I going to post the picture since I found it amongst some of Pat's correspondence long before he married me and I'm assuming it was a picture that was furnished to him, that it is not his, so that someone else owns the copyright on the picture.

I also discovered some other considerably valuable data with complete engine numbers, chassis numbers, body builders, year, displacement figures, and owner information for many of the older Alfas in that same folder. I'd guess around 50 to 100 entries.

FYI: Two brief glimpses of Rita Hayworth's car were caught in this French newsreel from 1949.

Thanks, Ruedi; it appears to be the same car as far as exterior comparison. Unfortunately, I don't speak or read French, anyone care to translate the substance of the newsreel for me? Ruedi, Alex, Gordi, Dave, Ronan, etc.? Not that it sheds any light on the Alfa, more of a curiosity for me.

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits owns/used to own some nice Alfas (and Jaguars), as does Nick Mason of Pink Floyd...

Oh - and Bruce McCaw (family sold McCaw Cellular to AT&T - to become AT&T Wireless - for something with 2 digits and 9 zeros son...!) He has some really fantastic Alfas.

John Shirley, Greg Whitten (Dr. and early Microsoft guy since ' 79) - at least famous here - locally... Hey, if our name is on Wikipedia, you must be somewhat famous, right...!?

Ron Simons - He's famous at the Ring and he owns about 30 Alfas!

Thanks, you apparently have better luck with Babelfish than I do. Even with the languages I read and can translate, Spanish and Italian, I find that Babelfish is less than accurate and some of their translations don't even make sense.

Since I have a very limited knowledge of French: "Merci" and a few other minimal words, I wouldn't attempt to use Babelfish based on results that I've gotten with languages that I know.

Chet Baker and Miles Davis

From an obit of Chet Baker
One friend recalls Chet arriving at his house with 30,000 guilders in a shopping bag. He had recently bought a cream-colored Alfa Romeo Giulia with Italian plates. According to Peter Huyts, who drove with him often, Chet was an expert driver who would miraculously sober up behind the wheel no matter how stoned he might have been.

I've heard that Miles Davis drove Alfas exclusively but I haven't been able to confirm.

Miles owned a 275GTB4, a Testarossa and two Murira's (one of which he wrecked), so if Miles had an Alfa/s, it wasn't exclusivly. He did love Italian machinery, though. Check out the 60 minutes interview of Miles on youTube; shows him and the TR.
