If Eric Clapton gets his name on the 'list' twice, then it's only fair that you add Ralph Lifschitz*!

Regards.

Robert:

I believe what Stu wrote on the vignale bodied Alfa that Angie Dickinson owned was: it was one of 47 produced, not a 1947 vignale bodied Alfa, and a series 102 car. I don't know the models well enough to know if that confusion could even be made as far as years of production.

Correct. There was a total of 47 Vignale bodied Alfa 102 series cars in at least 5 different (but somewhat similar) body styles, built from circa 1959 through circa 1961.

Vignale also re-bodied a Tipo 412 spider from circa 1937 in 1950, and bodied a small series of Giulietta berlinas circa 1956. They also bodied at least 1 1900 series car (a coupe) circa 1954...

Duly noted and repaired. I have no frame of reference. I'm a newly minted Alfisti with a blank slate for historical/production/model knowledge.

Robert -
You still have Eric C. ("god") listed twice, and I didn't see Ralph Lipz****z, or whatever.

Famous & Celebrity Alfa Owners / A Few More

Here are a few more celebrity owner's of the 6C 2500 Alfa Romeo, yes Eric Clapton is repeated, but I felt it was worth it for the other additions that I don't believe have been mentioned so far, complete with cite:

"The 6C 2500 was produced from 1939, slowed during the war, and then continued from 1946 through 1953. It was a popular model with celebrities and examples were owned by Ali Kahn, Rita Haywood, Dick Powell and, more recently, Eric Clapton."

Source:Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Touring Coupe, 1948 6C 2500 SS Touring Coupe | Conceptcarz.com - Pictures, Pricing, Information, Wallpaper, History

"Ex-Eastenders stars, Nigel Harman and Joel Beckett, better known as Dennis Rickman and Jake Moon from the hugely popular television soap...

...Julian Milne, Alfa Romeo Salesman for over 15 years with SGT had the pleasure of handing over the keys to the two 200bhp Alfa Brera 2.4JTDm SVs to Joel and Nigel, commenting 'They were extremely amiable, down-to-earth individuals who acted like any other customers taking delivery of their new Alfa Breras. Excited and eager to take to the road!'”

This was a replacement Alfa for Nigel, he had a GTV previously, unclear whether it was the older GTV or the newer bodied one; my guess, the newer bodied one.

Gordy,

He's stated he's new and trying to help; and FTR he has been a great help off board with some club issues in his area of professional expertise.

It is nice to have someone else kidded, harassed, or whatever --- I'm sure his shoulders are at least as broad as mine and/or he knows how to act like a duck, as Pat would say, and just let it roll right off your back.

Phil Hill has been racing his 1953 3000CM at Laguna Seca and elsewhere for years. I have him on video and in stills. Here's Hill at Laguna Seca in 2005 with deCadenet and Jim Hall and, yes, that is a SNO logo on his back. It was the first year someone else drove Hill's Alfa. The track photo shows Hill at speed in 2003.

A minor celebrity story: David McCallum, of The Man From Uncle fame (how old do you have to be to remember that one?). McCallum owned a Duetto or round tail. He sold it to a former stunt man who took it with him when he and his wife opened an antique store in Nevada City, California. I met the couple while antique shopping a few summers back, but did not get to see the car. They wanted to know its value, but wouldn't show it to me. Go figure.

if you want to indicate that a substantial portion has been deleted with the words: "deleted a bunch," since those words were not part of the original text which means they cannot be seen or found, you are in essence adding words, which then must be placed in brackets to indicate that; or the simplest way:...Gordy etc.

but then what do I know? No need to answer, I just had Pat who beat the English rules into my writing and formating whether I wanted to learn them or not. And yes, I still make mistakes and break the rules; but as I do, I always remember one of his favorite phrases:
"Rules were instituted (erroneously, initially under Dr. Sam Johnson) to codify the language and make it universally intelligible. Violating those rules is an inevitability, but we usually consider those who do, illiterate."
The above is a snippet from one of his English lectures on the "Slippery Slope," dealing with the English language and using grammar correctly.

He was a strict teacher, one I would not want to take, I'd probably have failed his class; he graded on a strict bell curve where if there were 30 people in the class he knew exactly how many would get As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs. By his standard no class could get all As and there would always be those that failed his class.

Your help and humor is appreciated; we're all trying to do our best to keep the list simple, read noncombersome, complete and accurate. Who knows where this "gem" may end up when searched on Google.

I remember Illya Kuryakin and Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn) who worked for Alexander Waverly, (Leo G. Carroll) who headed up Man from U.N.C.L.E.

I think I was in jr. high when the series was running for the first time.

'Evita' Peron owned a 6C 2500 SS. It (claimed to be her former car) was for sale here on the BB a little while ago. It is documented that Eva Peron did own at least one Alfa (not sure if it was a 2500 SS), but whether it was this car or not is the question.

Here is one source which claims the Giulietta Spider-JFK connection - It's from the Queensland Australia branch of AROC Australia's website at Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Queensland (Inc). Here is an exerpt:

AROCA (Qld) Inc.
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Australia is one of the largest single-marque automobile clubs in Australia.
The Queensland state-division of AROCA, founded in 1975, offers its members the opportunity to participate in a wide range of competitive and social events.

Alfa trivia and little-known facts...

President John F. Kennedy owned an Alfa Giulietta Spider.

Yup. He's owned an 8C 2300 for a number of years, too.
