Yes there are, & yes, it is(annoying)!

Sophia Loren also had a Duetto---She drove it around her estate in Italy w/one of those irritating interviewers from '60 Minutes'. Bo Derek had mid 80s Spider at her house near Santa Barbara, CA. I was told that Frank Zappa drove a 1969 GTV around San Francisco. Astronaut/Navy Admiral Alan Sheppard(he's the one that hit golf-balls-on-the-Moon!) drove an early 60's Spider Veloce.

Regards

OK. With John Lennon as an owner we can officially put this thread to bed (missed it in my first read through). 'Real' street cred.

"Yeah honey, John Lennon used to own one. Let's go for a short ride up the coast."

John Lennon
Pope John Paul II
Eric Clapton
Sophia Loren
Bo Derek
Jay Leno
Frank Zappa
Alan Sheppard
Carl Palmer
Benito Mussolini
Ralph Lauren
Wal-mart kids
Ayn Rand

I was just tallying up the names listed on this thread to get a 'lay of the land' so to speak. It would be up to the posters above to lay out the types/years/options etc each had.

Here is what was listed, I have no further information;

John Lennon - 2600 Sprint
Pope John Paul II - Alfa Romeo Sei (Alfa 6) from the 1980's
Eric Clapton
Sophia Loren - Duetto - 2600
Bo Derek - Mid-Eighties Spider
Jay Leno
Frank Zappa - 1969 GTV
Alan Sheppard - 1960's Spider
Carl Palmer - GTV
Benito Mussolini - 1935 6C 2300 Pescara Spyder
Ralph Lauren - 8C2900B
Wal-mart kids
Ayn Rand
Mohammad Ali
James Cromwell - stepnose GTV

That would make sense, Nick Mason is a serious Ferrari collector, so a TZ-1 would be right at home in his garage.

Not sure if Jeremy Clarkson has ever owned an Alfa, but from the way he speaks about them I'd be surprised if he hasn't.

I own several. Though my celebrity status is questionablel! I'm famous in my own mind, does that count?

Clarkson owned a GTV6, he rated it 94th on his list of Top 100 cars of all time. I don't know if that's the only Alfa he's owned or not.

I know where the John Lennon 2600 Sprint is sitting. I saw it about a year ago. The car is in need of restoration but is all there and very original.

Although I have not been able to confirm this myself (yet), I have records that indicate Sophia Loren used to own the 2600 SZ with chassis number AR856007.

I do too, we used to own it and sold it to the current owner. The story of how we obtained it is posted sketchily here on the bb on one of the threads and is well-documented in the Keith Martin publication, Sports Car Market. I'm not sure what exact issue without looking it up.

No one has mentioned Angie Dickinson, of "Police Woman" fame, she owned a white vignale-bodied Alfa. I have a picture of her/it at home, can't remember the specifics, coupe, spider etc.

Yeah, but he don't count - Mario won't talk about driving an Alfa unless you show him fifty large.
