Isuzu leaving North American Market

They only sold about 7,000 vehicles last year. If this had been Alfa, that number would've meant it was a good year.

But in all seriousness, I think this is just another example of how difficult the American market can be for automakers that just don't have the right product.

I think it had to do with their name. I never really knew how to say it and couldn't spell it either.

Does the 7000 figure include GM products sold? Gm was one of the biggest importers of cars for many years, Toyota, Isuzu, Hundae, Suzuki, and quite a few others. they dont seem to be selling as many foreign cars now, maby thats whats wrong with their losses recently.

But what'll Joe do?

Never liked the brand myself, and I'm thinking I'm prolly not alone in that, especially for those on the market for an SUV. ('a what? No, no, dear, I was looking at the H3, or that darling subaru/chevy/saturn/ford/honda/bmw')

They didn't really have a product anymore.

Anything sold with an Isuzu badge was just a GM-emoth.

I'm not an SUV fan, but the Rodeo and Trooper were dependable and reliable. The Trooper was a good off-roader. They also made good turbodiesels.....which is perhaps why GM bought them.

I'm convinced the Isuzu Vehicross inspired the Pontiac Aztek. Once you've fully diluted and ruined the original concept.

This thread should be moved to the "Off-Topic Talk" forum... Aghevli, as author of this thread, could you please make the request?

Best regards,

Isuzu probably made the pontiac, they made lots of light trucks for gm. I had a 84 chevette diesel, identical to an Isuzu I mark, and all the parts came in "genuine gm parts" boxes with "genuine Isuzu parts" inside.
