Insurance, again!
OK, sorry, but this is yet another insurance thread. I did a search, but could not really find what I was looking for. I am pretty happy so far with Hagerty for my Duetto insurance. Having said that, I need something different for my GTV. That car will be a daily driver, so I can not deal with the restrictions of a classic car insurance. I would like an agreed value though, as I am afraid regular insurance will not value an almost 40 year old car so highly.
Did anyone find a solution for that????

Have it appraised by a reputable collectible automotive appraiser and take the appraisal to the insurance company of your choice; shop around. You'll pay a premium for the amount of insurance that you select for the car because it will not fall under their normal underwriting guidelines. But it will be insured at that value....collecting in the event of an accident or some other mishap, will be a horse of a different color. All a game in my opinion, betting against the odds of something happening. The most important thing before you do this is to interview insurance agents and find one you like and can work with since many of them own their policies and once selected you have to find another agent willing to buy them out. Some simply don't want to mess with other than 2 "regular" cars, 2 kids, house, wife etc.
Pat and I used umbrella policies so that if anything happened on our property with the non-drivers they were insured also, in addition to the every day drivers, along with other types of liability by simply having them or is that so many of them. Think gas tanks and "kaboom."

Hagerty is good for classic cars that aren't being used as daily driver type vehicles...

Hi Stu ---
Must not have had your morning coffee....he's using Haggerty for his Duetto and is looking for daily driver insurance for his GTV.

Try SafeCo Ins. I have mine on an agreed value policy with no restrictions. The coverage was less than Hagarty or Grundy for the same coverage.

Peter,
We live in Springfield, MO. We have a '74 GTV 2000 that is my husbands daily driver. We recently put all of our cars with AARP insurance. We begged to differ with them on their value of the GTV and they took our priceing structure from the Sports Car Market Mag. book. They asked how many miles we drove the car each year and we told them approx 2k-6k. We pay only around $100.00 PER YEAR for the insurance on the GTV and that is for FULL coverage. We have all our vehicles insured thru them plus our house. Don't know your age but they are saving us a LOT of money.
