Insurance Coverage

Had the wife call our agent to insure our newly acquired 88 Spider and found that he couldn't write conprehensive and collision coverage. All he could provide was the liability and uninsured motorist coverage as required in Texas. He mentioned something about a "stated value" policy. What kind of coverage do you guys have? Any tips or suggestions?

i've got my 74 insured with American Collectors.
about $10 per $1000 of stated value.....meaning, i've got it
insured for $9k of value for $95 annual premium.
full coverage...if it gets totaled, i get 9k.
restrictions:
2500 mile yearly use...not for every day driving...can't leave it at
the train station.
has to be parked in a locked garage
can only be driven by drivers with at least 10 years experience
you have to have 1 other car for EACH driver in the household
other than this car before you can get this insurance.
there are other companies that sell this..grundy, hagerty,etc....
check hemmings.

Glad to hear another Texan driving an Alfa!

I have my '78 Spider insured with Farmers with full coverage . I have three vehicles and our house with them and have the Alfa covered for $450 a year, at a value of $8,000.

You might shop around a little and you should be able to find a carrier to do full coverage on that classic of yours.
