Alfa Romeo Returns To LeMans
Almost as good as Alfa returning to the USofA...
Autoweek (January 8, 2007 Page 42):
ALFA ROMEO RETURNS TO LE MANS
Quote:
ALFA ROMEO WILL END a three-decade absence from the 24 hours of Le mans in 2008. The Italian manufacturer revealed it will develop its forthcoming 8C sports car into a GT2 racer. Alfa president Antonio Baravalle made a brief reference to the project at the end of a speech at the Bologna motor show in December but did not confirm details.
It is almost certain that the 8C project will be masterminded from the Maserati motorsport facility built in Modena, Italy, for maserati's MC12. It is likely that the 8C and successor to the MC12 will be developed in parallel.
Afa's last Le Mans participation came in 1973 when it entered a trio of 33TT3 prototypes.
