over the years i have been given the nicknames "burmshot", "curb-slayer", "dionysius de fiflos", and even "dionysius maximus ciruleus - commander of the 5th army"
but the most relevant here was "Darth Dion". derived from usually arriving by motorcycle wearing all black : pants, leather jacket, boots, gloves, and helmet (with tinted visor) and going through a rather humorless phase.
i twisted the spelling of Dion to Dino to make "Darth Dino". seemed more fitting for an italian car forum

Mine has nothing to do with Alfas, really -- although I owned my first Alfa about the time the name came into being.
The story is actually kinda gruesome. Back when I was in medical school I was playing football in an intramural league. As often happens, the game got a bit heated as it went along -- med students are pretty competitive creatures.
Anyway, the game's intensity was picking up and I had something of a collision. Basically, a receiver on the other team was running a pass route that brought him across the middle of the field. I was on defense, crossing toward him from the other side of the field. The quarterback threw the ball, I lowered my head and *WHAM* He broke his collarbone and nose, but, while trying to duck out of the way, his giant (and surprisingly bony) mellon head rammed into my cheek.
I fractured my cheekbone, and the class' email newsletter that week included a mock injury report in its description of the game (I wasn't the only one hurt in the football game) which included the very cryptic and medically geeky:
Chris R: zygomatic (probable)
The sentence stuck with me, and zygomatic became my log in name.

Where Does Your Profile Name Come From?
Mine is pretty straight forward and obvious to most Alfisti, although there are some that miss it....a simple memorial banner to my husband and an attempt to protect mine and our children's privacy by keeping my name off of the Internet as much as possible as far as searchable as a unit.
I do hear from those that object and don't understand my privacy concerns or why I prefer to remain as his wife behind his name. I've given up explaining it to one particular person on the board who took me to task in public about my preference, unfortunately....

I could write a really clever answer right now if only I'd been smart enough to use something other than the name my parents gave me.

Long, boring and pretty geeky story (although some people with a background in architecture and with a working knowledge of Danish might be able to understand).
Sorry......

My crotch rocket buddies nicknamed me "dragon tamer" because I had a thing for green Kawasaki ZX anythings, 6's, 9's, R's, the new 10R

Hey no laughing at the leathers.... that's dragon taming armor
So when I got a green spider... A friend joked that I now had a "dragon for two" when he saw the green serpent on the Alfa badge
So, I guess Green Dragon is really my spider...

I really didn't put a lot of thought into it. It is the same that I used for the Fiat Dino group on Yahoo. When I joined that group, I chose my favorite Northern Italian Industrial City Not Named Milano. 78 is the year that I met my wife, and 2002 is the year we first visited Italia. Kind of an eclectic amalgamation of random menomic devices.
