Hey Sweede:

Start with a 2.0L 8 valve single spark like in the 70s gtvs and 70s-early 90s Spiders. Then add heads...whatever you want to make her fly. Rip it all out if that's what you would do. Lets here what are all the ideals out there to get the power under the hood.

Best Regards,
John M

Interesting. Alas, since the car I'm bulding is a 67, and I'll be putting in a 2.0l of some type, it looks like I'll not race in Canada. But that is ok, since I'm a newbie, and may keep to the local events to keep costs down anyway.

My "advisors" tell me that 2.0l is ok, as long as I run in the correct group. I think Mike Besic's step nose is a 2.0l...

Eric

Well, thanks for the info, Ken! I guess I'll have to stick to the 8 valve head...unless I can figure out a way around the rules! Is there a website available for Canadian Vintage class racing? Are the rulebooks available on-line?

Cheers,

My understanding is if you run with a recognized US Vintage Racing Organization, and are American you can run with VARAC.

Right...

the base is a 75 TS engine.

8.5:1 static comp.
NGK racing plugs
Direct fire (ditch the distributors)
two sets of injectors, low and high speed

Hardware:
-Monosleeves
-Billet crank (just cause it's all-out... )
-Verdi conrods
-Verdi drysump
-Concrete filled (well, epoxy ir whatever)
-Forged pistons with all extra (lightweight pins and total seal)
-Roller throttle bodys with some nice stacks in a plenum
-Garrett GTBB series turbo, separate Wastegate.
-4 to 1 extractor manifold
-cams with "digital lift" 12.5-13mm lift suited for turbo
-Motec top of the line EMS
-titanium inlet valves and inconel exhaust, titanium valvetrain
-oil squirters to cool the piston crowns
-large intercooler
-Head ported and finished by a friend of mine (all-out)
-oil cooler with thermostat

I'm sure I forgot something...
It's a race engine of course.

There has been several posts on this and other sites regarding Steuart @ Sperry Valve Works. A good friend here in Mexico sent Steuart a head for repair. He did say they were not returning his mails nor answering the phone for like a week. Turns out Steuart called him (to Mexico) to review the status of the head he had sent.

Steuart told him he is somewhat backed up in work, but getting there.

So to wrap this up I just wanted to let you all know of a “good” thing I heard of Steuart. Little late but getting there….

Merry X-Mass and Happy New Year!!!!

Regards,

Eliseo Carrillo

Since Eliseo brought up Stuart again, I wanted to thank John M for the nomination of becoming Stuart's apprentice! Actually Stuart did mention that he has a part-time helper. It sounds like he also needs an office assistant too. While there, I envisioned helping him out to gain knowledge and access to an expert and his tools. But alas, I am married now and can not consider this option. If only I would have visited Sperry during my single days.

And since Simon asked, I did not drive my GTV to his shop. In fact I have been going through withdrawls as I have not driven her for two weeks now. I don't know how you fowl weather Alfisti can handle it.

Stuart offered to take a look at my head once I get it off. I will definitely take him up on the offer. Don't think I'll leave the head with him though.
