Talking Gotta Love Archivio Storico Alfa Romeo

I saw that someone else on the BB got some free copies of manuals from Alfa in Italy so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Took a little while for them to respond but I got an email saying the stuff had been sent, and a few days later it all arrived - Express Airmail!
Anyway they are bound photocopies of a high quality, double sided. They even did the chunky parts manual for me.
Thanks Alfa Romeo!

That's excellent. They should take the next step and put such things on their web site in PDF format!

Back before Elvira Ruocco retired, they were working on a project of scanning EVERYTHING in the archives!! I would love to get a repro set of the late 30s to mid-1940s Alfa Corse magazines!

The fact that they sent you all that material free of charge is just proof that at least the people at the archives have class and know what they are doing, unlike some of the marketing personnel.

Marketing people are marketing people. The people who work 'out-the-back' are true Alfisti.

Hey, Derek, well done! So did you just e-mail them a list of what you were after and say "please"?

hey! I work in automotive marketing!

But I do agree... 90% of people in automotive marketing don't have an interest in cars. It can be tough to work with them.

But, that's fantastic that Archivo Storico gave you those books! What a great group. I'm pleased that the manufacturer still clearly cares about its history. My visit to the museum in Arese was amazing- a fantastic collection. I should have asked around at Archivo Storico, but I couldn't think of anything to ask them!

Yeah make sure you say please!

To receive the manuals, you have to write to them with:

- Type of the car and chassis number.

- Date of manufacture.

- What kind of manual you need.

- Your complete postal address.

- Your phone number.

Yours, Sincerely,

Marco Fazio

Fresh from Arese, Italy

The quality is excellent, the amount of trouble they go to is unreal.

This workshop manual is huge and the quality of the text is as good as the original. The only downside is that it is in Italian but I can make it out, could also get mum and dad to translate, gives me a good reason to learn the language.

hey, cool!

Who and where exactly did you mail at the archivo?
See, I have a Sei, with an incomplete manual.
I already wanted to mail the archive for info on the build sheet, which I have for my other Alfa's, but I never dreamed of asking for a manual!
Please tell what mail adress you used, and I will have an italian friend mail them in italian.
I wonder!!!

Thanx already,
Rik

I have received the parts manual on my 1750GTV too.
As mentioned above excellent copy, send by DHL to Belgium and completely free.
Thanks to everybody on the bb for pointing out this opportunity.
Thanks to Alfa for this great service.

Rik,
Go to:
http://www.archiviostorico.alfaromeo.it/
and register.
Then in the section send request you can type an email describing what it is you are looking for. English works fine, Italian might be faster.
The reply comes from: ArchivioStorico@alfaromeo.com
and is signed by: Marco Fazio and Antonio Magro

Veel succes
marc

Shall I hence count you among the customers for a project that's being considered in my neighbourhood?

The Alfa Corse collection at the museum is unfortunately not in perfect shape, let's say. But there's another one, almost perfect, even more accessible

Hadn't noticed there's a registration section on that. Pretty cool stuff in there. Including a picture of Elvira (now retired):

The registration process did contain a typical (stereotypical?) Italian contradiction. They enforce the strictest of password policies (8+ characters, must contain lower case, upper case, numbers and symbols) - then email it back to you in plain text! So be careful what you pick for a password!

Yeah, I noticed. I don't get it.
I've tried anything to register but it keeps throwing back my passwords.
What is upper and lower case? Give me an example of an accepted password please?
It throws it back and then you have to fill in EVERYTHING again.
Shucks....
