Painted Headers / POR-20

Im sure alot of you are familiar with POR-15 but have any of you ever tried POR-20 to paint exhaust parts?

I just bought a pint to paint some headers.

We used that on our turbo spider... Where it was applied to cast iron on the turbo, it worked great! Although, it can wear off with repeated application of oil and whatnot.

We also used in on the fabricated headers- not so good there. I think the smooth surface didn't help with stick.

Make sure you are careful around it until you run the car, as it stays "wet" until heated up.

You bought way too much, I bought some to paint the headers on my TS.

I haven't done the headers yet but I did paint the cam cover, two coats took about 15 drops.

As Eric said, the paint remains soft until it reaches a temp of 180°C (350°F).

Yeah, if you paint any items that aren't directly attached to the exhaust, it's best to sandblast first for a grippable surface and bake in an oven @ 350*F for an hour. Just don't get caught using your wife's oven!
