i read that the 4c will be around 45k.

There's no way that this car will come into the US at 45k. The very first Lotus Elises came in at around that much but the price quickly rose to over 50 just to get started. A regular Elise now is well past 55. I can't see this car being less than an Elise even if they wanted it to be.

I like the 4C, and can afford it. But will it be twice as good as the new Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S? Probably not. Which is why I'm seriously considering the BRZ new and would only think of buying the 4C once the depreciation monster has had its way with one in 4-5 years.

RHD and in Australia at that price - sure will. But I am with zackspeed - I suspect that here it will be priced to compete with an Exige. 120-150K AUD. If that is the case maybe second hand...

i guess i should respond since i did start this thread

i personally do not like the looks of the 4c - too similar to the lotus elise / exige.

if you guys did not know, the same designer worked on both brands.

i agree with zackspeed that this car will probably be closer to 55k out the door when all is said and done.

i also agree with jarrington that in a few years, you can probably pick up one of these "cheap" since the depreciation will drop significantly.

look around ebay, you can buy lotus elise's now in the 20's.

i am not as excited as most for the this car or alfa's to return to the states.

give me a perfect milano or 164 to go along with my spider and i would be one happy guy

Many pre-war Alfa owners also feel no connection what-so-ever with post-war Alfas. Funny how history has a way of repeating itself. Of course this can be said about many brands not just Alfa Romeo.

All the Alfas I desire already exist here in the US and were built long ago. Best of all, they all are appreciating not depreciating

No way, even if I could afford it. I just can't accept the appearance. Like a few others, I really like the looks of the Duettottanta. Automotive styling is really a personal decision, and the manufacturers seem to be searching far and wide for the next "Hit". My personal opinion if that they are mostly missing the goal of making me want to buy anything. Witness the Sh*t eating grin of the recent Mazda 3 series, the slit window, giant tire, Tonka Toy Camaro, The Kia Rio, and of course the Pontiac Aztek. Collectively, some of the recent "styling" hurts my eyes. Remember H.L.Mencken:"No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public" (OK, end of rant...)

At $45,000, the 4c might be a hit with potential customers who like the styling so this would be a Good Thing for Alfa/Fiat/Chrysler.

I'm going to have to drive one to judge. I like the concept... light weight, small displacement... dislike the lack of a manual.

It will have to be a bit more practical than an Elise (easier ingress/egress at least), and decent fit/finish to get me to bite even at 45K. If it's much more, no thanks.

Any guess as to when they'll show the production car? Wonder if it will be Los Angeles... was thinking Geneva, but that may be too early
