I don't think it does anything for Ferrari's history. If anything, it will effect the future of the company. But I also believe that if Enzo could've tapped into some of the ventures Ferrari is profiting from now, he would've too. Anything to get his Scuderia more money to race more.

And as was commented previously, as long as the racing innovations feed into the cars mere mortals can buy and drive, it's all good.
