Congrats Justin and welcome to the BB! I'm sure you will enjoy your Alfa more and more every day. They are so addicting! If you haven't done so already, don't forget to put yourself on the AlfaBB members map under the "Anything" forum.

The yellow looks like a 2000 GTV and the red a later 1600 junior but posting the chassis numbers from the firewalls will be more definite. Post the engine numbers as well as the engine in the GTV looks like an interesting mix with an early dipped cam cover.
I'm sure you will have lots of fun chasing each other around with these cars!

Hi all
Thanx alfa2go will get both the chassis numbers up later today as wellas the engine numbers.
If anyone could give me a list of somewhat era type mods you can make to these cars the best way to get the most bang for your buck.
We want to over time build the yellow one up to race standards. Whats the best engine mods to do to the GTV i really wanna push alot of power out of it but still keep it reliable.
The red one we want to keep looking as standard as she does got a respray one the books going to keep it red. followed shortly by the yellow on (not quite sure what color tho got any ideas )
Well im off to try do some wiring thanx to this site i have a beautiful wiring diagram.
Regards Justin

Welcome here!!!
like Derek said, you need chassis numbers to be sure...The yellow one could actually also be Junior...the later ones, called unificatos, that were built through '76, had a 2ltr GTV appearance. The red one definitely looks like a smoothnose Junior

Well that’s a 1971 2000 GT Veloce G.D. (right hand drive). It could be a CKD (completely knocked down?) assembled in S.A. car as well if it has CKD on the Tipo plate. It is really early in the 2L 105 series as the numbers started at AR 2410000. The 2L engine seems to match up to a 73 or 74 2000 GTV? The table of numbers I have only goes to 1972.

I reckon the best bang for your buck is in the suspension mods. Heaps of threads on the forum about it. Alfaholics and Classic Alfa seem to be the suppliers of choice.

Hi Justin
The red one dates as a post '72 GT 1600 Junior circa '73 or 74. It's a wide light or flush nose -depending on who uses what terminology. The dating book, Fusi, only goes up to 1972. The motor is a 2.0L from circa '73/'74
Both your cars are CKD, G.d. models - Completely Knocked down and Guida Destra or RHD & were imported into SA in kit form and assembled outside Pretoria at Rosslyn, hence the extra red tag/plate under the bonnet, usually just behind the RHS headlight & carrying the motor number. To get past local content laws the cars had some local stuff added in the form of carpets, paint, wheels, tyres, radiators, glass, etc, etc. Local is lekker.
Where are you guys based, the one car has a GP reg and the other a CT reg, depending on where you are, lets try & put you into contact with the nearest Alfa Club, they will have the info and expertise to help you guys.
The fundamental difference between the 2 cars, (assuming only the motor & box were changed in the red one will be that the yellow one has a 4.1 limited slip diff fitted, while the red one has a 4.555 open diff. The yellow one will have different front spindles to carry the bigger front brakes. Spring rates varied slightly, but not by very much. Other than that the dash boards & a few trim changes, the shells are essentially the same. There are loads of go-faster & handle-better items available - limited only by your budget.
I've sent you an email - contact me off-line & I'll fill you in a bit more about other Alfista in your neighbourhood.
Cheers
Greig

Hi all
Thanx Greig for the help I've sent you an email
Is there anyway of telling exactly what diff is in the yellow one i know the red one been changed to a limited slip diff?
Anyway today i pulled the carbs off the yellow one and gave them a good clean and after doing much reading i put them back on and set them up as best i could. She seems to run smoothly and has a good ideal will get it to a dino one day and get them set up properly but for now it will have to do.
Regards Justin
