Old cars, memories, sigh

Surprise, surprise, went to a new Italian restaurant tonight to try it out (it was ok, but the food was not of the old country), and as I was looking out the window at the house across the street, there was a very clean either very well taken care of or restored Fiat 124 sport coupe in the driveway. Couldn't believe it. I thought all of those had rusted away. I sure liked the looks of those cars.

Friend of mine had one of the very first brought into the country, with the 1450cc engine, a relatively gutless engine but fun to drive car. Seeing that car brought back a flood of memories of the old days (1966) with my first Alfa, a pristine 65 Giulia Sprint GT, 2nd one into the states (first red one from the factory) via my mechanic from Italy. Sigh. Noted that my wife's Milano I was now driving drove pretty much like the Sprint GT, lighter feeling, much better handling, and sprightlier than my 91S or 94LS (Q). Really different. This also brought back a flood of more memories. Double sigh.

It's funny... it probably made the dining experience much better when you had those fond memories come back. Nice story.

Hopeless romantic.

Although you'd better be if you own a driveable Alfa.
