Fixing Electric Mirrors in 84 Spider

I have an 84 Spider with electric side mirrors which stopped working some time ago. When I activate the switch I can hear a click but the mirrors don't move. Alfa mechanic told me that the motors in mirrors are frozen. Seems kind of strange that both would freeze up at same time. How would I trouble shoot what is wrong? Is there any way to get the motors unstuck assuming the wiring and switch are OK?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the BB

Tony:
Where are you from? I'm here in beautiful snow covered Eastern Massachusetts. I'm researching power mirror info for my 84. I unfortunatly hip checked the original mirror off my car last year. It was dangling from the wires when I cut it off the car. I managed to totally destroy the base of the mirror where it goes into the cylindrical piece that is mounted to the car. When I cut the wires they fell into the door!! I then tracked down a used mirror, locally through the BB and mounted it onto the car. I still don't have the wires hooked up. I want to take the panel off the door and see if I can re-attach the mirror, or replace some of the wiring. Just waiting for some snow to melt before I bring the car out of the garage....

84 Spider Mirrors

Marc:

I'm located just outside Philadelphia, PA. Sounds like your a little worse off than me but just need some good weather to get started. If you figure out what makes these things work (and not work) let me know.

Tony

If the '84 spider is like an '84 GTV6, there should be a little white connector next to the upper hinge behind the inside door panel... I sideswiped i hot penut cart a couple of months ago... ANd found out the haer way.
