2 SF Bay Alfettas on craigslist, or: stop me from doing something i'll regret

79 Alfa Romeo GT
74 Alfa Romeo Alfetta - if that's registered as a '74 I want it!
Body-wise, from this far, they actually look pretty good. If someone's seriously interested I'd be tempted to go check them out. The coupe looks almost identical to mine. I think $750 for both is more like it, though, unless they both run well. And here's another Alfetta offer: Alfa Romeo Collection

Sedan is '76-'77 due to larger grille. SAVE THAT SEDAN! There are so few of them around and this one certainly seems worthy.

I agree - someone needs to save the sedan (and it's a '76-'77) - that dark blue is a great color. Chris, do you know where in the North Bay these are located?

Whoah... how's it happen that I write about Alfettas one night and the next morning the BB goes all high-tech looking?

I'm not sure where the cars are. I wrote to the owner last night with some basic questions, so I'll relay that info to the board once I've got it. If the sedan is nice and a '75 (why would it not be '75-'77?), I might go for it, although really I'm looking to branch out from Alfas since I've already got 2.

It wouldn't be a '75 because the center grill on it is the larger & wider heart shaped grill found on the '76-77's only. The '73 - 75's have a narrower center grill which shows body color on either side of it. It's a far more attractive (not that I'm biased or anything...) look. The earlier cars also had the block Alfa Romeo script over the license plate lamps (in the U.S.). Finally - '75's were not sold in California, and until the roll back happend a few years back - they were impossible to get smogged and bring in legally. This car has blue plates on it - so it has to have smog equipment installed.

But... what if the PO brought in his '75, and then, upgraded to a later grille, and then registered it with some blue plates he had lying around, and then, removed the block script?

Holy crap. That's a level of Alfetta-awareness I can only aspire to

Smog makes it less appealing - I'm already fed up of smogging my two SPICA cars. I guess I'll see how much time I have in the upcoming weekends. I'm thinking this guy will drop his price (and reply to my email) if he really needs to move them - after all, I got a pretty good running coupe for a third of what he's asking. But in any case, someone else feel free to grab them, as I'm not a serious buyer right now.

I thought you might say that -but the paint looks pretty much original, and people other than myself tend not to spend that much time and money on these cars.

You should wait until I decide for sure if I'm going to keep mine or not. I'd love it to stay local if I do completely lose my mind and get rid of it. I'm so close to letting it go, but hearing the engine is totally addictive, and nothing like the Lancia, I just keep thinking "how can I live without this sound in my life??"
