I need to check to see if the 3.0S conversion I mention above is running on L Jet or Motronic but I'm guessing the later. I'll update later today.

"I have to do the work and only for a few thousand dollars no less... the rings are blown, the water pump is shot, oil pump is shot, and gaskets are gone."

You will easily be spending near $2K in a heartbeat just on those regular parts, then add cams, valves, etc. it adds up quick even if you do the labor. I thought I saw someone in Eastern US selling a 3.0 in good running condition for around $1800 or so ...

I didn't venture to think that I could get the desired hp out of the stock EFI, but I'm not going to be SO worried about that, when I have a very tight, functional engine. The system can come in time, when I can research and base out exactly what would be the most productive for the car. I've seen a few systems, and of course they "say" they will work, but I've heard nightmares about these types of situations where all faith is laid into one system... Have you used any of the systems that you mentioned?

I've used L-jet, and Motronic...both are stock systems in 80's and 90's Alfas and other European cars. Gotech, no, but I've dabbled with megasquirt...a DIY standalone.

If you build a high performance engine and don't look into increasing fuel, you could put a hole in a piston due to running lean. Not trying to rain on your parade, just make sure you reasearch plenty before tackling a project like this. GV has a good point, rebuilds end up costing way more than we think it will.

I have done it with L-Jet and S.D.S. There is no question that L-Jet can support 220-240 horsepower. However, it does take some work, and there are issues. The subject is way too complex to get into on this thread. Aftermarket systems like Gotech, Autronic, S.D.S. etc. are a lot easier to deal with from a tuning standpoint. I do need to come clean here, I am an SDS dealer, and I do use the system, but that's because I like it.

Haha, of course you're a dealer No worries really, i'm very aware of the fact that I need to do my research, and that is exactly my plan... The car can sit for a bit, and think about what it's done... haha.. I've had one or more GTV6's at any given time for the past 8 years... so I'm aware of the cost... that comment was not meant to mean that I want to do it for less, i was saying it's not going to happen for any less than a few thousand. At this point, I'm looking at around 5300 in parts, and thats just cause i'm accounting for getting new heads if I feel so froggy.

Any leads on the 3.0 that GV thought was for sale? I poked around some and didn't see anything...

Thanks for all the help to everyone, FYI, this is going to be a mighty fun project that I'm sure will provide some info any one of us can use.

Darn! I just saw the motor listed within this past weekend, and now I can't find it ... it was from Verde as well, which would have made thing easier. I'll send the link if I find it again!

Found It! $1500, PM sent.

Greg, I definitely didn't forget about your tricks with L-jet.

BTW, I'm assuming you can get L-jet to enrichen for an NA car, not just one that sees boost?

A big factor to consider also, is what your state will allow you to modify and still keep it on the road in regards to SMOG tests and all.

Unfortunately, here in CA even a 25 year old car still needs to pass smog, else I'd spend the money towards GregG's supercharger setup on the existing 2.5 rather than on a 3.0l ... of course given the cash the 3.0l with the supercharger!
